Retired General Mark Milley’s official portrait taken down at Pentagon

On Monday afternoon, people noticed an empty spot at a Pentagon wall where Retired General Mark Milley’s portrait hung. Milley’s portrait was among the portraits of previous Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff on display. Although ABC News  didn’t get a definite response on why this occurred, recent history provides hints.

From ABC News:

The portrait was unveiled on Friday, Jan. 10, at a ceremony in that hallway, with both Milley and then-Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin present. The portrait’s disappearance was first noted by reporters at the Pentagon who observed the empty space where the portrait hung just a few hours before. It is not clear why the portrait was removed from the hallway, but ABC News has reached out to the White House for comment.

Milley, who was preemptively pardoned on Monday by then-President Joe Biden as part of a last-minute slate of pardons, retired as chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff in 2023. Appointed by Trump during is first administration in July 2018, Milley drew ire from Republican officials following the United States’ military withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021.

“My family and I are deeply grateful for the President’s action today,” he said. “After forty-three years of faithful service in uniform to our Nation, protecting and defending the Constitution, I do not wish to spend whatever remaining time the Lord grants me fighting those who unjustly might seek retribution for perceived slights. I do not want to put my family, my friends, and those with whom I served through the resulting distraction, expense, and anxiety.

“It has been an honor and a privilege to serve our great country in uniform for over four decades, and I will continue to keep faith and loyalty to our nation and Constitution until my dying breath,” Milley added.

  1. Maybe the portrait was moved to the head/latrine and captioned…

    “Please wash hands after urinating.”

  2. Oh, and don’t forget to pull his clearance. Boeing is fucked up enough without having him on the board.

    1. Keep yer fingers crossed – SCOTUS long ago ruled that if you accepted a pardon, you are admitting guilt. So somebody ought to be quietly asking the Boeing or Raytheon boards (for instance) if they want an admitted felon in the boardroom.

Kind of a bad look, but that’s just me.

      1. Raytheon liked Austin who only had a participation Silver Star for a combat award, ever, despite Desert Storm and GWOT.

        1. Blount had to justify his own Silver Star. The best way to do that was to recommend another General.

          1. Exactly. Therein lies the conundrum. All those get out of jail free cards actually should lead to the truth coming out.

    1. My inner grammar nazi- “Hanged”
Milley’s portraits will look just fine through a sight picture at 7 yards.

      1. This is correct, the stocking were hung by the chimney…

But these traitorous bastards were hanged in the courtyard as appropriate…

    2. By his nut (or nutless) hairs? Sorry, I can’t help myself. I got that from one of my DIs (I’m gunna hang you up by your nuthairs) and have used it ever since.

  3. If he was granted a pardon by Joe Biden, that means that he committed crimes at a federal level. And we are not supposed to hold criminals in high esteem, correct?

    1. It also infers those crimes were committed while he was in uniform and subject to the UCMJ, yet he was permitted to retire and draw a pension.

Biden issued pardons that are looking for a crime.

      1. You got folks commenting elsewhere on news articles that Milley did, in fact, have the authority and duty to go above the president to do what he did. It’s amazing how crazy some of these leftist fools are — some are (claiming to be) active duty senior enlisted servicemen.

        1. Well, their oath does require defending and protecting the Constitution, not the President.

        2. Conceivably he could have ignored orders if they were unconstitutional. Say he was ordered to take over Cleveland, kick out the residents and house the 3rd Armor Division there. That is clearly unconstitutional and he could politely decline.

Nothing in there about tipping off China though.

    1. Dang. That’s a big portrait. That frame might be worth a six pack of cheap light beer.
The actual photo not so much.

  4. May I suggest they hang his portrait in the nearest whore house with a sign that says: “Employee of the Year”.

    1. Whores are at least honest about what they do for a living, Milley, not so much.

      1. Well, GEN Milley Cyrus did acknowledge that s/he was going to rat us up making a powerpoint slide for the next Chinese Command & Staff meeting if we tried to do anything that would make the Chicoms unhappy.

  5. Recall and UCMJ his ass.

Military justice under a different C-in-C is immutable or else what’s the damn point? And I’m not even sure Xiden’s pardon can cover Fed charges unsought but committed under a different President, regardless of venue.

“Plenary” bullshit aside, Man’s law is flawed and this whole heap of fuckery needs to be addressed forthwith.

      1. Can’t an article 15 take away at least some of his rank and fine him…., let’s see. How much is your pension again?

        1. I’m not sure just how much NJP can do to an officer, let alone a GEN. I got the giggles thinking about him on extra duty.

            1. Give him a 30 gallon trash bag, instruct him not to return until it is full of cigarette butts, and send him on his way.

Shitbags hate it when you give them shit like that to do and fucking with their free time.

          1. Barracks confinement w/ jerk off privileges revoked, corrective training cleaning the latrine all day and extra duty pickin’ up trash while wearing the Shinseki beret for 6 weeks.

  6. Nice.

(Chuckles quietly and goes back to work at not calling the Chinese to assure them I’ll stab my country in the back if they need me to.)

  7. “… faithful service in uniform ….I do not wish to spend whatever remaining time …. fighting those who unjustly might seek retribution for perceived slights. I do not want to put my family, my friends, and those with whom I served through the resulting distraction, expense, and anxiety.”

And I call BULLSHITE!! Put Milley through the mill. Twice!
What he’s mewling about is the EXACT SAME THING that he put PDJT45 through.
“FOR BEHOLD MY FIELD OF FUCKS, FOR IT IS BARREN AND EMPTY, AND I HAVE NONE TO GIVE”
I’m of two minds if I want Milley to have an “accident” or not (from Mike Vandebaugh’s “Absolved” – can’t find the chapter at the moment). Do I want to have FMM put out of our misery? Or do I want him to continue to have a long and miserable life?

  8. Perhaps his Chinese counterpart (whom he swore to warn of pending US military action against China) would be interested in purchasing his shitcanned portrait.

      1. Nah. Hunter was spitting paint so there are going to be trace amounts of coke and meth in there. Probably at least $20 worth.

    1. Maybe they’ll bolt a tampon dispenser over his hand. Might as well make him LOOK useful…

      1. Real Generals like Eisenhower, Patton, Marshal and others used a urinal to relieve themselves, “Generals” like Milley sit down to go pee.

        1. Veterans from the war that I spoke to in my youth loved, worshipped and even feared the men who wore stars. Nimitz, Halsey, Patton, Bradley and Ike (to name a few) were more than just leaders of war fighters — they were heroes and household names back in the states.

No one fears or respects this ass clown. He is, was and forever will be a traitor and a joke.

          1. And none of those leaders you mentioned would have a subordinate do something they themselves would not do. This ass clown Milley even looks like a tin-shit weasel.

            1. I forgot to mention the Marine generals in the Pacific — men who actually respected the boys on the ground fighting a horrific and dirty war. I believe it was General Vandegrift who, when seeing a salty old senior noncom walk out to receive a medal in his beat up dungarees simply smiled and carried on with the ceremony.

The respect was deep and mutual, the love of country was even deeper.

  9. Trump needs to get himself a parrot. I’m thinking something along the lines of Andrew Jackson’s bird. Teach it to say “Fuck Joe Biden”. Build it a big, beautiful cage, yuge, a cage like no one has seen before. Milley’s portrait would make an excellent liner.

  10. Saved round: I may have missed it, but did Lloyd Austin receive a pardon from FBJ?

If not, the new administration should seek punitive action against him for violating the rights of servicemembers for his China-Virus jab mandate.

Others may see things differently, but there is a lot of house cleaning to do at the Pentagon, and it should start with holding those who fucked up accountable.
