Cori Bush, second ‘squad member’ to lose primary

Cory Bush, Democrat Representative from Missouri, lost her primary race against her rival, Wesley Bell, a county prosecutor. His stance is more moderate, and he had the backing of pro-Israel groups. Bush’s association with Black Lives Matter helped her win her first term. Her anti-Israel statements worked against her latest bid.

From BBC:

Ms Bush came to prominence as an organiser in the Black Lives Matter movement and, after taking office in 2021, as one of the “Squad” of Democratic members of the House known for supporting progressive causes.

She has been a vocal critic of Israel’s war in Gaza, with pro-Israel groups spending more than $10m (£7.9m) on efforts to unseat her in the primary.

Projections from both the Associated Press news agency and NBC News suggest Mr Bell is on track to win the vote with 51% of ballots cast, compared to Ms Bush’s 46%.

The district is a strongly Democratic area and Mr Bell will be expected to hold it at the coming election.

Almost all the money spent in campaigning against Ms Bush reportedly came from the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (Aipac). Aipac is a pro-Israel lobbying group and has vowed to spend over $100m to unseat progressive lawmakers who have spoken out against the war in Gaza, Politico reported.

It marks the second loss for the Squad – a group of nine progressive lawmakers in the US House of Representatives – in recent months.

In June, more than $15m was put into a successful bid to oust Jamaal Bowman, another critic of Israel, from his seat in New York. The figure was the most spent in any House primary in history. Mr Bowman was ousted just weeks after he was censured for pulling a fire alarm while the House was in session.

  1. Is she (somewhere back in genealogy) related to the Texas Bush clan? Just curious.
But, other then that, my give-a-fuck meter is broken and pegged at “0”.

  2. I heard on the local radio, Talk radio 97.1, that had audio of her defeat speech. She is big mad for sure.

      1. It’s not “your job” you low IQ drag on humanity; it’s a POSITION YOU FILL for a while. And if the people don’t want you to fill that position anymore, you have to get the fuck out, and someone else will fill that position. If that person does a better job than you the people will shout; “holy shit!” If that person does the same job, or worse than you, the people will all shout; “yeah, it figures!”

        1. well said.. if her IQ is above room temp (of her district in Jan), I’d be shocked…

    1. I believe he was brought in to clean up the mess Kim Gardner made of st louis prosecuting office. Kim Gardner was too busy taking nursing classes to prosecute actual crimes.

  3. A few years ago, when certain Representatives and Senators became household names (especially “The Squad”), I pondered the reasons these politicians with constituents residing thousands of miles away were known to me. National politics are just that–national–and I’d expect to know the name of an out-of-state Congress Critter before I would a state-level nincompoop, but I still don’t understand why I should care about some progressive from Misery or any other state/district I don’t live in.

Regardless, if she’s soon to be gone, good riddance. Stick to representing the people who elected you, instead of trying to impose your agenda on the US at large. In a sense, “The Squad” is the P65 of politics. I don’t care if something “is known to the state of CA to cause cancer, erectile dysfunction, hemorrhoids, demonic possession, premature infatuation”, or anything else. I don’t live in CA and make a point to remove or cover every P65 warning I can, especially on firearms that can’t even be transferred to CA residents. If I could simply cover up the likes of A-Hole-C, Illin’ Omar, Radish Tweeb, and Baldilocks–err, Nowanna Pressley, I’d do so, preferably with only slightly breathable materials so we wouldn’t be subject to hearing them talk again. Or maybe a Bane mask, that would be amusing.

    1. One of the handguns I own came in a case with a label saying “NOT LEGAL IN CALIFORNIA”, and I look at it like a Jock does one of his trophies!

  4. Well, now she can spend more time with her family, doing what she loves, that being burning down synagogues.

    1. Man, that’s become a fun shitshow to watch, she’ll burn the whole town down just so she can rule over the ashes!

      1. Why is it so rare for areas that are majority black to elect people that are intelligent and honest??? Yeah, I know the vast majority of politicians are dumbass liars, but the majority black areas seem to have a special knack for electing the dumbest of the dumb (Hank Johnson, Sheila Jackson Lee, etc) and the crookedest of the crooked (Cori Bush, the scrunt above, Grimace in Georgia, etc.)
And of course you’ve got Zero which hits both marks…

        1. Hodge twins on you tube will answer some of your questions asked. LFR Families as well.

  5. Two down, and how more to go? I’d love to see Ilhan Omar and AOC bite the dust.

      1. It’s not surprising to see that Bush and Bowman have the same “NO” vote record.

Unfortunately, both will stay around until next January when their terms end.

          1. One in the same – dumbass extraordinaire.

(Before entering politics, he was a schoolteacher, and claimed he thought the fire alarm was a door release button.)

          2. He thought it opened the door. A big white and red handle with FIRE engraved on it.

            1. Nah, I’ll give him credit. I don’t believe for a second that he actually believed that… On the other hand, he’s an anti-American lying douche canoe who pulled the alarm to do exactly what he claims the J6 political prisoners were trying to do.
Good riddance to bad rubbish in both cases..

        1. I would say with an election about 90 days out, not much will be getting done before then, but these people are known to pass shit at midnight on the weekend.

  6. Aww and her free loading significant other is out of a job too. All those poor moonlighting cops on her security detail are out paychecks also. Guess her constituents do want her unprotected. Sionara bitch.

  7. Looks like the squad is going to look more like a fire team soon. Push the lever and the Cori Bush goes swirling down the drain like the turd she is.

Unfortunately, her loss really only brings in a slightly less radical whacko whom the constituency will vote for in droves. (I don’t know the primary winner’s policy positions except they are all bad because he’s a lib. Just don’t know HOW bad.)

  8. Some clown on X tried to cope by saying, “All those millions spent to only win by five points. Not much of a victory.”

He got roasted for missing the point and when I rechecked the thread an hour later, he had deleted his entry.
