Seized Iran Weapons to Ukraine

US gives Ukraine seized Iranian weapons that were headed to Houthis

By Jonathan Lehrfeld

The U.S. redirected thousands of weapons to Ukraine earlier this month that it seized from an Iranian group attempting to smuggle the munitions to Yemen’s Houthi militants, the Middle East-based U.S. Central Command said Tuesday.

More than 5,000 AK-47 rifles, machine guns, sniper rifles and rocket launchers, as well as more than 500,000 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, were transferred to the Ukrainian armed forces on April 4, according to CENTCOM.

“These weapons will help Ukraine defend against Russia’s invasion,” the command said in a social media post.

The move comes as Ukraine has run low on munitions to defend itself, and as the U.S. seeks to disrupt Iran’s efforts to bolster proxy groups like the Houthis that threaten regional security.

The Houthis have launched launched near-daily attacks on commercial and military ships in the Middle East since the fall.

Good to see someone is thinking. Question is why Iran’s behavior supporting Islamic terror being tolerated, and what happens when they directly attack Israel.

  1. Hope the Ukrainians perform a thorough QA inspection on all of those weapons and ammo before they issue them out to their troops…

    1. Same here. Forgot what the sabotage operation was called but we were told to never use ammo/arms/demo that was captured/seized over concerns of,.

      Totally always obeyed.

      1. Had that lesson pounded into our heads too, back yonder. If it can be booby trapped, it most probably is. The lesson to destroy stores to prevent their capture was also pounded into our heads. Hood blew 80 train car loads in Atlanta.

  2. Every once in a great while somebody up there does something that makes sense. Not often, but enough to make you wonder.

    1. That “somebody” will be charged and fined not more than 10% of the total value of arms just given away.

Just who does this “somebody” think they are to cut out the middleman.

  3. I’m sure this’ll keep RF from providing materiel support for the ‘other side’. /s

    Snowballs be snowballin’.

“Prepare” –Battle, King of; 1 Ea.

(is it me, or are we glitching a bit today?)

  4. Wonder how much of the billions of American weapons left in Afghanistan are going places too…

    1. If we sold them to Ukraine, we would only be getting our taxpayer dollars back.

Minus 10% for the big guy, of course.

  5. Seems like a bunch of good ol boys could turn Letters of Marque into a going business. Win win, and our shipyards could use the business, turning out modern Bass Frigates and Offshore Fishing PTs.

  6. Ha ha. Thanks for your donation to the cause, Khomeini.

Would be even better (more irony) if they went to the IDF, but on the whole, I’d rather see Russians get waxed than Hamas. (Don’t get me wrong; I’m okay with either. I just like the scale of work the Ukrainians are doing.)

  7. If Iran keeps this shit up, Joe Biden will have no other option than sending them another $6,000,000,000. No joke.

    1. Wouldn’t make more sense to punish Russia, with them? Hell, they are already trained socialists and won’t need much more indoctrination.

  8. I’d have delivered those rifles to the general population of Venezuelan prisoners of socialism along with a supply of Maduro tipped hollow points.
