1,000 US troops deploying to build offshore port for Gaza aid

The Pentagon released details Friday of its plans to construct a temporary pier off the Gaza Strip’s coast to help flow more than 2 million meals a day into the territory, using an established military capability that officials say can build and deploy the structure without having any American troops on the ground.

Over the next 60 days, roughly 1,000 troops will deploy to the Mediterranean Sea to build a floating platform where cargo ships can offload aid onto smaller military vessels, which will transfer them to a causeway attached to the beach, where trucks can pick it up and distribute it within Gaza, Air Force Maj. Gen. Pat Ryder, a Pentagon spokesman, told reporters.

“The concept that is being planned involves the presence of U.S. military personnel on military vessels offshore, but does not require U.S. military personnel to go ashore,” Ryder said.

President Joe Biden first announced the effort on Thursday night during the State of the Union Address.

      Recently watched a video wherein a bunch of these idjits found out there are two million Arab Israelis living in Israel. The stammering and confusion would have been funny, if not for the seriousness of the topic. The clip ended with the suggestion of opening a history book.

      Someone else commented that those who are blocking traffic, you know, like the Presidential motorcade, be shipped with each pallet of food. I heartedly support this suggestion.

      I know this is preaching to the choir, but, this is going to end badly for our personnel. The blame of course, will somehow be shifted to Israel. I pray it goes off without an American flag draped casket, but I fear that is a foregone conclusion.

      The only good outcome of Operation Gothic Serpent is the bursting of the delusion the Somalis could be convinced to turn against the warlords that were starving and terrorizing them. Like so many other cultures, these are features, not bugs. I truly don’t understand why this lesson has not been learned.

  7. Logistical question…I assume thus thing has to touch the beach for it to work. So who is going to anchor it in, bolt it down, glue it to the Earth, etc,etc…if there will be no US troops on the ground?
