January 6 Committee suppressed evidence of Donald Trump’s request for National Guard

In the aftermath of the Capitol Riot of January 6, 2021, Donald Trump repeatedly stated that he called for the National Guard’s presence at Washington DC. This request was due, in part, to a track record of ANTIFA/BLM attacks against conservative demonstrations in the recent past. Liz Cheney, along with the rest of the January 6 Committee, received testimony substantiating Donald Trump’s call for the National Guard as well as for his call for a quick reaction force. The actions of the January 6 Committee are under review by a current House subcommittee.

From The Federalist:

Deputy Chief of Staff Anthony Ornato’s first transcribed interview with the committee was conducted on January 28, 2022. In it, he told Cheney and her investigators that he overheard White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows push Washington D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser to request as many National Guard troops as she needed to protect the city.

He also testified President Trump had suggested 10,000 would be needed to keep the peace at the public rallies and protests scheduled for January 6, 2021. Ornato also described White House frustration with Acting Secretary of Defense Christopher Miller’s slow deployment of assistance on the afternoon of January 6, 2021.

Not only did the committee not accurately characterize the interview, they suppressed the transcript from public review. On top of that, committee allies began publishing critical stories and even conspiracy theories about Ornato ahead of follow-up interviews with him. Ornato was a career Secret Service official who had been detailed to the security position in the White House.

Cheney frequently points skeptics of her investigation to the Government Publishing Office website that posted, she said, “transcripts, documents, exhibits & our meticulously sourced 800+ page final report.” That website provides “supporting documents” to the claims made by Cheney and fellow anti-Trump enthusiasts.

However, transcripts of fewer than half of the 1,000 interviews the committee claims it conducted are posted on that site. It is unclear how many of the hidden transcripts include exonerating information suppressed by the committee.

Those documents support the committee’s narrative rather than the truth of the events leading up to January 6, 2021, said Rep. Barry Loudermilk, chairman of the House Administration’s Subcommittee on Oversight.

  1. They will expect Trump to play by the rules when he gets reelected. I say expose them all and go scorched earth on them. Salt the ground when done.

  2. Considering the swamp-denizens making up Pelosi’s hand-picked “investigative committee”, what did you think would happen?

    1. Right from the word “go” it was a Beria-like “investigation.” They even hired experts on how to make it the most dramatic of political theater.

      1. The deep state did everything they could in stagecraft at the protest. There was the fake scaffold for hanging midgets and the fake pipe bombs, plus agent provocateurs in the crowd. The J6 “investigation” was kind of a D-rat/RINO Potemkin village PsyOp.

        1. Funny how The j6 committee had a distinct lack of interest in the pipe bombs. That would be the one thing you think they would be most interested in.

  3. The Orange Tyrant needs to be stopped or Bobby DeNiro might be rounded up for reading random sections of the DSM-5 and dRumPf may never give up power, again? still?more?

    Right, Bill?

{and the crowd laughs} (see beelow)
    ………

I’m fucking tired of these idiots ruining what little peace we have remaining from when actual humans ran this system.

Liberty and justice aren’t fucking weapons, they are the very basis from which all legitimate power is derived.

And the only thing these assholes are derivating is woodfuckingchipper sales.

May God have mercy, because I’m out….

    1. And my response is, “when the law no longer protects me from the corrupt, then equally, it no longer protects the corrupt from me.”
      AVAST, AND PREPARE!

  4. July 27, 2022 story.
It appears Mark Meadows started all this.

    (paste)
Miller was responding to a claim Meadows made in a Fox News interview a month after the riot,
in which he implied that Trump was “very vocal”
in making sure there were “plenty of National Guard.”

“As many as 10,000 National Guard troops were told to be on the ready by the secretary of Defense.
That was a direct order from President Trump.
And yet here’s what we see is,
there’s all kinds of blame going around,
but yet not a whole lot of accountability,”
    Meadows said at the time.

When specifically asked about whether there was a direct order from Trump to have Guard troops ready,
    Miller said there was not.
“There was no order from the president,”
he told the House select committee.

    1. Correct. There was no order to have the DC National Guard ready. No one here is saying that.

Trump, as commander of the DCNG could have ordered them out. No real explanation as to why he didn’t since he stated that it was a good idea. I’m more curious who at the Pentagon told Steven Sund that they couldn’t send the DCNG in because of the optics and why. The whole thing is a political tar baby.

        1. Bullshit! Politico is another propaganda arm of the D-rat/Progs. Their stenographers are all Trump haters. I’ll take the word of Kash Patel before anything spouted by Politico.

            1. Most of us don’t read Politico because it is a leftard socialist democrat mouthpiece for propaganda. I choose to get real facts, not made up lies.

          1. rgr769,
Anyone could make the same (“Bullshit!”) argument about The Federalist, the website that thebesig uses for this article.

I’m not doing it here about this article today….
but the reality is, The Federalist has their own shoddy history, and nothing coming from The Federalist should be believed as gospel at face value.
            Verification digging required.
And I haven’t bothered to do that today, either.

      1. 5JC,
        2 things.

1st – Here is chain of command of the DCNG.
Some of those making public statements immediately afterwards, and now long after, didn’t seem to know or understand the basics here.

        2. DOD version of events, 2 days after.
(Unsure how much of this holds up after 3 years.)

(paste) District of Columbia officials knew of the planned protests and had requested some assistance when the “First Amendment demonstrations” were planned for Jan. 5 and 6, McCarthy said.

        Based on this request,
officials called up 340 National Guardsmen to help.
The Guardsmen were assigned mainly to traffic control, Metro crowd control, some logistics support and a 40-member quick reaction force to be based at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland.

“No other requests were made,” the Army secretary said. (end paste)

      2. 5JC,
        Well,
Ornato (article) and Meadows (the hill)
both claim Trump ordered the 10,000,
        on top of the 340.

Miller (article) and Army Secretary McCarthy (ng mil)
        both say it isn’t so.

He said, he said, he said, he said.

        1. Like I said, somebody is lying. I’m sure the GOs realize which way the wind was blowing after the election and went that way.

        1. It’s because there isn’t a governor and the District of Columbia is a federal District.
