Teen receives two-year sentence for veteran’s death

An 82-year-old UK veteran lost his life in the aftermath of being assaulted by a teen. Video footage shows Omar Moumeche, then 16, and his friends playing around an escalator and blocking it. The veteran, Dennis Clarke, approaches and talks to them. They were blocking the escalator. The teens later catch up to Clarke, Moumeche subsequently attacks him. Clarke falls and suffers injuries that would lead to his passing away nine days later. Moumeche, now 18, subsequently received a two-year sentence.

From the New York Post:

A UK teenager was sentenced to two years in detention after he killed an elderly man with a single punch, surveillance footage shows.

Omar Moumeche was 16 when he punched Dennis Clarke, 82, at a Derby bus station — located roughly 80 miles outside of Manchester — in May 2021.

Clarke suffered a fractured skull and a brain bleed, causing him to die in the hospital nine days later.

The now-18-year-old was sentenced to two years in youth detention Friday after being convicted of manslaughter in July.

While at Derby’s Eagle Market, Clarke stopped to talk to a group of teens who were playing around on top of the escalator, blocking it, surveillance footage released by Derbyshire Constabulary shows.

The Army veteran — who served in Singapore — then leaves the supermarket and heads toward the bus station around 4:30 p.m., but the group of three teens follow him.

The teens were seen surrounding him, and Moumeche pushed the elderly man. Clarke then pushed him back.

Seconds later, Clarke was seen falling to the ground, striking his head and falling unconscious, police said.

  1. There is so much wrong with the Brit justice system. No wonder the society is going into the toilet with crime and the silly laws banning anything the govt considers hazardous. Except for the criminals.

  2. Omar Moumeche…..geee…..I wonder what nationality and religion he belongs to……?

And I wonder if I would get as light a sentence if I were to cause Mr Omar Moumeche to fall, concuss his head, and die nine days later?

    Hmmmm…….

      1. Hmm, not likely Amish or Bhuddist… say, when do left/libtards notice muslim Arabs are actually Caucasian?

  3. Had I been there to step in and stop the assault, I would probably be in the Royal Gaol for assault on a minority under a sentence of 10 years.

      1. Ah, yes.
Well, I should be hearing the knock on my door by Scotland Yard any moment now.

    1. And the wrong side of the road they drive on. In 1964, we were tied up in the Portsmouth Naval base after Op. Steel Pike off of Seville Spain and a couple of us were in a Taxi cab and when we got on the road the first thing I yelled was, he’s going to kill us driving on the wrong side.

    1. Hard times make strong men,
      Strong men make good times,
      Good times make weak men,
      Weak men make hard times.

      ‘Tis always been such.

      We’re on the 4th step.

  4. Hopefully, there are a few of Her Majesty’s wayward fellows in that prison with young Mr. Moumeche.

  5. Based upon everything I have read and seen over the past twenty years, law enforcement and England’s criminal justice system have become a cruel joke. Compare this case to that of an elderly homeowner who was sentenced to life in prison for shooting and killing a violent burglar in self defense in his home.

  6. Two years from now this murdering punk will be free and Mr. Clarke will still be dead. Maybe the Brits have a BTJ&T Deli that can serve up some justice!

  7. 2 years vs. forever more? That doesn’t add up evenly using my math. An accident is one thing but assault, by a teen against an elderly man, nah!

  8. A punch does not equal manslaughter to me. It was meant to be thrown, not accidentally. Plus the teens went after him, that also was on purpose.

16 is not an adult but it’s old enough to know right from wrong.

    2 yes is not enough.

      1. Well, while I respect your sentiment, it is more complicated than that.
        I am a shomkoh, a shomer kohanim.
My father descent from tribe of Judah’s shofet, and my mother from the kohen gadol.
I am the sword in the darkness.
As long as I wear America’s flag on my shoulder, America is safe, so I shall wear it, for as long as I can.

        1. Listen, dude.
          My wife is Sephardic Jew,
We’re both Latin American like you.
I give you shit because you pretty much invite it.
I don’t doubt your devotion to your faith and I give you props when it’s due.
You have nothing to prove to me, nor I to you.
If I were to run across you,
I’d buy you beers all night, just no Bud Lite.

          Damn, almost a poem here.

          VLLC.
