White House: Iran Aiding Attacks on U.S. Bases in Iraq and Syria

White House communications official John Kirby said on Monday that Iran is “actively facilitating” rocket and drone attacks by Shiite militias against bases housing American troops in Iraq and Syria.

Kirby said the White House has noted “an uptick in rocket and drone attacks by Iranian-backed proxy groups against military bases housing U.S. personnel in Iraq and Syria” since Israel commenced its response to the savage Hamas attack of October 7.

“We’re deeply concerned about the potential for any significant escalation of these attacks in the days ahead,” he said.

          I had to recite that poem as a child. The woman who taught me that poem was married to a former Catholic priest who had been shot in the back by some KKK types back in the ‘60’s while he was marching for civil rights and saw two of his friends killed at that same march, one of whom was an Episcopalian minister. I’m still trying to wrap my head around a Catholic and an Anglican agreeing on anything but, there it is. There was a PBS documentary made about this, it was something along the lines of “Here I am, send me!” Not trying to say anything in particular, but the line in your meme brought it to mind.

        Hard to believe, but just over a year ago I still had my IVAS 1.0. There was nothing quite like having a $46k piece of equipment at home. It was especially great for family get-togethers after a few drinks.

        The IVAS 1.2 looks to have fixed some of my gripes as an Advisor, so maybe my bitching had some small effect. The more I think about it, the more I wish I’d have at least applied to become a remote instructor, travelling to Bragg and other installations to conduct training. I may have to reach out.

  4. Well, let’s get involved in a 3rd “skirmish “. Today at lunch, I saw a car with a bumper sticker that read, BYDON 2020. Sure would have liked to meet the owner, and see what they think of their pResident now, if he is living up to their expectations.

    They probably would have said “I bought it used and it was on there when I bought it “. Goo gone and a few minutes work would have polished it up nicely. Left on there, it’s value, to me, was greatly diminished.

  8. Well, no shit? Really? This is news all of a sudden why? Way back in 2005 the DOD was stating Iran was adding insurgents in Iraq. We did nothing then, why is it an issue now? We need to GTF out of the Middle East and let them all sort it out. The Saudis can fight Iran, Israel can kuck everyones ass, and whoever is left can have the place.

    1. This is news because, well, our Most Popular President and Unchallenged Leader of the Free World ™ needs to be reelected. What better way than to bring to light Iran’s sudden involvement in every conflict in that region? It’s news to millions of Americans who watch CNN daily and who have NYT digital subscriptions. Iran’s always been a non-player on the world stage. They’re like North Korea, Middle East Edition. Big bark, no bite. Well, we just learned otherwise. DOD is gonna DOD, and those reports back in ’05 were just trying to get more funding and were Bush-era propaganda. You know, the Bad Man of the 2000s until Trump supplanted him and he became best buddies with the other UniParty politicians. For the past 45 years Iran has been a non-issue, but now the threat is real.

      We need a strong response to Iran. Perhaps some military strikes, conventional forces in Israel, and while we’re at it, “military advisors” in Ukraine. Distract us, oh Great Leader, and you’ll surely prove yourself as a strong and untarnished shoe-in who must be given four more years in office.

      It’s too early for so much sarcasm. The automatic drip hasn’t even started, though.

There are news reports today that the Israeli ground offensive is being delayed, at the urging of the US, until we can deploy defenses to protect our troops from drones & rockets.Tuberville should make that hold on promotions permanent.
