Police officers repeatedly punch a U.S. Army veteran during traffic stop

Bodycam video, released by the Colorado Springs Police Department, show what appears to be police officers punching Dalvin Gadson. According to the article, Gadson served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged. Gadson was apparently driving around 15 mph in a 45 mile-per-hour zone.

The police pulled Gadson over as he had no visible license plates. One of the officers reported that there was a knife in the vehicle’s cupholder. Gadson turned over his license when requested, but later refused to cooperate when the police wanted to subject him to a sobriety test.

From Fox News:

Video shows the officer requesting Gadson’s license, which he turns over, and returning to his cruiser.

When additional officers arrived, police said the officer returned to Gadson’s vehicle and asked him to step out of the vehicle, so they could conduct a driving under the influence investigation.

The officers can be heard telling Gadson not to reach for anything while exiting the car. Gadson opens the door and swings out his feet but tells them he will remain seated.

“He was completely confused by, you’re stopping me for a tag, now you’re asking me for a DUI check,” Gadson’s attorney Harry Daniels told the station.

When an officer tells the still-seated Gadson “you’re going to be detained in handcuffs,” Gadson replies, “No I’m not.”

One officer reaches for Gadson, who retreats into the vehicle.

The video shows officers swarming Gadson and punching him repeatedly. Gadson falls out of the car and onto the pavement. Officers continue to demand Gadson put his arms behind his back while they continue to punch him.

Gadson can be heard pleading with officers, “I wasn’t trying to fight y’all,” and, “What did I do?”

The punching goes on for about one minute, with video also showing Gadson being kicked in the head by an officer on scene, FOX31 reported.

Daniels said Gadson suffered an eye injury, ruptured ear drum and PTSD from the encounter. Images at the scene showed Gadson bleeding from his face onto the pavement.

    1. dude asked for it.

      Indeed.
If Gadson is actually a veteran he should have known better. If his mamma had raised him right he would have known better. I am sure he already has the PTSD from his no doubt heroic military service, so it will be hard to tell how much this new trauma will contribute to it.

  1. “Gadson served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged”

    Thank you for your service.

  2. That certainly escalated! How hard would it be to just comply with the instructions and let the situation sort itself out? Makes me wonder what he was smoking.

      1. Can’t see them. Don’t know what scripts GFM is running but I’m sure my computer is blocking them.

I hope people are putting the result in proper context.

  3. The Chris Rock video is timeless truth.
    (and funny as hell!)

  4. After beating him the Cop Posed Showing off his Bloody hands and smiling at the Camera. A good cop engages citizens and uses the least force necessary to detain him. This guy was repeatedly punched then kicked in the head,, and the Piece of Shit Cop was gloating about it in a picture. FUCK that cop, and frankly Fuck anyone who doesn’t see what he did as being wrong.
And before and fucking retard wants to chime in and say ” Hur Dur Hur He wuz resisting Aress'”
Yes I fucking know that. He 100% should have been detained for refusing to comply with a FSC.
Another case of some POS cop who probably was a loser in high school hiding behind a badge and using excessive force.

    1. In apprehensions the police are authorized by law to use Necessary Force to overcome resistance to lawful orders. This includes striking with fists, hard weapons, and the use of lethal means when called for.
The civilian may only use Equal Force. The force used by the miscreant must be met by equal force, and may include the use of fists, hard weapons, and the use of deadly force only if these weapons are being used or the threat is being presented by the malefactor.

      1. Necessary Force…. This isn’t about whether the guy was an asshole, resisted arrest or if the Police Could Use Force.. It was about the amount of force used and the actions of the Police AFTER they beat him down. Posing with a big grin on your Face after you beat the fuck out of someone ( whether force was needed or not) is the sign of a POS human being who shouldn’t be trusted to wear a Badge.

        1. Weapon in car, asshole possibly reaching for it, sorry but cop went home and scumbag is a little lumped up but still alive. Follow directions and none of this is an issue. The human POS is the asshole that put the LEO in this position in the first place. There is consequences to being an asshole and obviously this guy didn’t comply with directions until subdued. The amount of force was commensurate to the level of resistance. Again if a LEO tells you to do something, do it!! If you don’t you will be forced to comply. LEO safety is the most important issue here and if fuck head just listened none of this would be an issue.

          1. There was no call for the gloating afterward. The cop should be suspended for that alone.

            1. I looked again at the video. What gloating? And even if something distasteful was said after the event who gives a rats ass. This encounter put the officers in danger and all this guy had to do was not be a dumb ass and follow directions the reason for being detained wasn’t even very serious. He escalated the situation and apparently his go fund me is doing very well.

    2. All he had to do was follow instructions and none of this would have happened. Sorry don’t feel bad for him, dumb ass had to know that the car wreaked of weed and he was at least going to be detained. He escalated the situation, he started fighting the police are under no obligation to fight fair and he got lumped up 😭.

    1. Helo wrencher; bet the only time he spent on the range was in BCT. So, his lawer’s civil rights lawsuit against the popo will be his second round of Litigation Lotto.

  5. The SPoTW Thread coming early again this week? Might as well, plenty of it to go around.

Suspect(?)…”I will comply with your request.”

LEO: “I will treat you with respect.”

      1. According to reddit (yeah, I know…) SMA 👽 Grnstn posted the below to ‘open[] dialogue with meme lords, addresses issues, morale’ and the result was morale instantly improves and approval ratings sky rocket.

        What a cringey douche.

        1. Here is an Army SMA panel discussing changes to AR 670-1 (time stamped to begin at the ludicrous)

          Note: Comments are blocked. IKR?

He really lets us know what army is all about at minute ~36. Gotta see the person, not the Soldier.

          kNoted.

        2. Is that addressed to his Liberty Buddies to let them know he won’t cock block them when it is closing time at the SNCO Club and only heifers are left?

  6. Working hard to get back in the military? Homeless but money for dope? Told he is under arrest and throwing g down the glove doesn’t normally go well.

Not really getting feels this guy. I am thinking maybe he had some pee test issues leading to his separation.

  7. For someone who touts his service so much, you’d think he’d better demonstrate the ability to follow lawful orders from officers. He fails half of the LDRSHIP values in the span of a few minutes.

    1. Maybe when SMA Grinston decided to re-write about every Army AR and regulation, he purposely left out “follow orders”?

  8. His service has nothing to do with this situation. He kinda messed up. The cops were overly aggressive though. I think they wanted this to happen.

    1. What the cops wanted was for him to follow directions, not assault the cops, and not keep lunging into the car going for a weapon.

  9. The time to contest a legal situation is later in the courts. All he had to do, and is required to do, was follow instructions. His driving behavior was indicative of an impaired driver, be it alcohol, drugs or both. Same for his belligerence and refusal to follow commands.

Pain compliance is a time tested tactic for gaining control of a resisting person. It is done when there IS resistance from the suspect. Trying to verbally “convince” a resisting suspect to cooperate does not work in the real world.

The media is going down the well worn path of describing the situation as a prosecution for “driving while black” in support of the left.
