For me it is washing the coffee pot before going to bed.
No matter how bad the day has been I will wake the next day
to a clean coffee pot. A small discipline but one I have
great appreciation for each morning.
I never make my bed.
I see the speech was around four years old.

Title could also be, “Things your parents should have taught you before you turned 8 years old.” Mine did.
‘beans I not only wash the coffee pot every evening, I load it for the next day’s brew. And, yep, I make the bed too.

My dad told me the drill Sgt. would drop a dime
on the newly made bunk and if it did not bounce he’d rip it
apart and make you start all over.
I suppose today it has gone up to a quarter. Inflation.
