Like Father, Like Son

Army recruiting poster

This article from Army Times did me some good.  A father and son graduate Ranger School exactly 35 years apart.  Read the whole thing, below. The reason they have precisely the same graduation date is in the article.

This kind of speaks for itself. Like father, like son.  Congrats to both of them! Let’s hope a 3rd generation can carry on that tradition.

  1. I graduated Ranger school in class 7-68. 26 years later, my son graduated in class 4-94. 26 years later, his son graduated in class 5-20. A family trifecta.

Name edited to protect PII. Congrats!
    AW1

  2. Charlie is an awesome Soldier! He’s also the Chaplain for the Long Range Reconnaissance Association (LRRA).

    1. After over 51 years, it is the suckiest experience of my life. But like my tour in the Viet of the Nam, I’m glad I did it.

    1. Under a Biden regime, maybe that dad will be pinning the tab on his trannie, since Gropey Joe says trannies should be allowed to enlist.

      1. That will be only after completing the first phase via correspondence courses.

If you are going to flush the standards, go all the way.

        1. Don’t go giving them ideas. COVID has already been the excuse to interrupt normal military operations enough.

  4. The school surely has gone soft:

    Two MRE’s per day!
    WTF!
During my Florida Phase (Class 8-74) we were down to one C Ration per day. That’s it, one little cardboard box with a few tin cans of food. For those counting, that provided 1,235 calories for the day. While humping weapons (sometimes the pig), LBE and ruck through the swamps.

Is that a life preserver (ski vest) that Ranger is wearing coming out of the water at the Slide for Life? Yes, it is. There was a reason it is (was) called the Slide for Life. So what is it called now? “The Ranger Water Park game”?

And yes, at the link there are pictures of the girl rangers.

    1. Yes, even though my class experienced snow in the mountain phase, we only received one C-rat a day when on patrol. Same in Florida.
