A taste of WWII bureaucracy

This one came from a user on Twitter. Here’s the original tweet;

Even on the morning of D-Day, there was some bureaucrat who had to call to a front-line unit to tell them that the way they’ve been loading out their Hawker Typhoons for the last two months is still under evaluation. The Wing Commander’s response is fabulous.

  1. Managed to get this out, in addition to all of their other duties.

    Hope they got put in for another piece of bling.

  2. It’s like the time Patton had two divisions taken away from him to help out in other sectors on the Western front and that he was to refrain from trying to capture the town of Trier because he needed four divisions and only had two.

    ‘When Patton received a message instructing him to bypass the city because it would take four divisions to capture it, Patton replied, “Have taken Trier with two divisions. Do you want me to give it back?”’ (source: https://www.britannica.com/biography/George-Smith-Patton)
