Those gave me flashbacks of Berlin. Summer was prep for parades, practice practice practice, actual parade followed by critique. My company (A 2/6 Inf) had the honor guard platoon and they drilled with M-14’s with wooden stocks.
Each summer all our vehicles were repainted for the parades and we used tire black on the tires. Except for parades we only used our M-113 Armored Personnel Carriers once in the field in Berlin while I was there.
Our parade practice site, Platz der 4 Juli, next to McNair Barracks, which has now been converted to condominiums with rooftop gardens.

McNair Barracks per wikipedia: Built in the 1930s, the structure originally housed the Telefunken headquarters and factory, until 1941 a joint venture of Siemens & Halske (S & H) and Allgemeine Elektricitäts-Gesellschaft. During the years of National Socialism, the buildings were mainly used for development and production of military equipment, and the radar-guided flak system was perfected there. In 1945 the Telefunken plant was converted into barracks for occupation soldiers, for which the German government paid the owners of the site a yearly rent for its use as an army barracks.
