A Blast from the Past, Advertising Edition (Part 1)
As fate/luck would have it, Hondo, I got along with my Mothers-in-Law better than their Daughters. Each of them gave their daughters hell for quote, “don’t you recognize what a good man you’ve got.” Living well IS the best revenge.
And, again. My idea of good opera comes from The Who. I was at this show. And let’s just say that, unlike Bill “Cigar” Klintoon, I DID inhale.

1979, Butte Montana. Intermountain high school drill team championships. Young D was in the band. A team used Pagliacci in their routine. Immediately upon the first note, all the band heathens from 25 schools start singing “No more Rice Krispies” at excessive volume.
It was an awesome day.
My high school band made a marching cadence out of the drum solo from “Innagaddadavida”.

Even moreso when adults found out and freaked. Because now it was “underground” and we would “accidentally” use it.
Band geeks can be some seriously subversive little sumbitches!
Our band’s rendition of the overture from “Jesus Christ Superstar” threw our little predominantly Mormon community into a panic, we were politely asked to refrain from playing it.
Nope.
One of my all-time favourites. I even remember some of the songs on the flip side.
