I’m all for celebrating your past, but these things are….ugly. Especially those shoes.
They switched to the most recent ones to “celebrate the past” and everyone hates them. And hate having to continually spend money on more and more uniforms every couple of years.
The Army told the world we were going to the blues as a service uniform to celebrate our heritage, but the fact was They thought it would save money by eliminating a uniform and combining the service uniform with the dress uniform. Now the Armynis that guy with one suit he wears to everything- and it’s a cheap suit.
Ever stand next to a Marine in their greens? They look sharp, while we look like extras in a bad war movie.
The problem with the ASU is your service uniform (business suit) is the same as your formal/ceremonial uniform. The only difference is the tie.
Aside from being kind of garish as a Class B (which existed before the ASU), it eliminated The uniquely Army full color combat patch and replaced it with the Combat Service Identification Badge.
The money issue is kind of a wash- Soldiers will continue to get their annual uniform allowance and they will continue to blow it in strippers and beer or a down payment on a used Camaro
I also think Soldiers hate wearing any dress uniform because they associate it with the ass pain of brigade runs, an in ranks inspection with some pissed off NCO and a seamstress ruler, and mandatory training in the theater. Either that or mandatory fun at a ‘Holiday’ Ball
BTW the SSG in the picture isn’t wearing a CIB because he appears to be an aviator, complete with Air Medal (its kinda blurry)

USN tried that with the service dress khaki uniform a couple of years ago. Didn’t work out too well.
