While I don’t wish to see your career ruined, I do believe a lowering in rank and a very public written and verbal apology is needed…safe your COC more embarrassment and voluntarily do it.

The one and only thing you proved with this little stunt is that the men and women who serve with you now know EXACTLY how you will think of them if they ever fall into captivity.
Do the decent thing and request a discharge for the convenience of the Government.
