Somali pirates made headline news at an alarmingly regular rate until the summer of 2012. It looked like the party was over, and the cost was severe for those living on the Somali Coast. It appeared that international efforts to stop the pirates from boarding any ship that came along and demanding millions in ransom, had paid off.<\/p>\n

They’re back.<\/p>\n

CAIRO (AP) \u2013 Pirates attacked a UK-flagged chemical tanker off the coast of Yemen in the Gulf of Aden, Stolt Tankers said.<\/p>\n

The vessel\u2019s armed guards exchanged fire with two skiffs manned by six armed pirates, who approached the vessel Stolt Apal at high speed, the company said in a statement.<\/p>\n

The vessel\u2019s guards disabled one skiff and ended the pursuit. There were no injuries on board, and only the vessel\u2019s bridge area sustained minor damage from bullets.<\/p>\n

The Stolt Apal was around 75 nautical miles (86 miles\/140 kilometres) off Yemen\u2019s coast when the attack took place, and it has since resumed its voyage.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
