Feeling suspicious, the deputy pulled over the sluggish souped-up scooter.

The driver, identified as Bryan Purdy, 46, of Acworth, told the deputy he owned the moped despite the vehicle’s VIN number being altered, the sheriff’s office said. The deputy then smelled marijuana, and a closer inspection found much more.

Purdy was arrested after the deputy found 50 grams (about 1.8 ounces) of methamphetamine packaged into several baggies, the sheriff’s office said in a news release. The deputy also seized a gram of heroin, six grams of marijuana, several pills and digital scales.

0 / 1 / 0
Read the rest here: AJC

Crawford County deputy returns fire, kills man following high-speed chase

BY BECKY PURSER
A Crawford County sheriff’s deputy returned fire, striking and killing a suspect following a high-speed chase Monday night, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

Jamie Lamar Darley, 33, was taken to the Medical Center, Navicent Health, where he was pronounced dead, according to a GBI news release.
