House Majority Whip James Enos Clyburn, (D-SC) and other Democrat power players are calling for an end to the Democrat Primary process and naming former Vice President Joe Biden as the Presidential candidate for the party. Their reasoning? His lead over Bernie is insurmountable, and there is no reason to continue.
\nThis, of course, would enrage the Bernie supporters, who would see it as a repeat of the 2016 betrayal by the Dems to support Hillary at Bernie’s expense. It was her turn, after all. From the article:<\/p>\n
By Ronn Blitzer<\/strong><\/p>\n House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn, D-S.C., appeared ready to call off the Democratic primary race Tuesday night and declare former Vice President Joe Biden the victor.<\/p>\n In a conversation with NPR as the results were coming in, Clyburn \u2013 who already has endorsed Biden \u2013 said that if Biden were to sweep the six contests, it would be best for the party to put an end to the primary race, debates and all.<\/p>\n “I think when the night is over, Joe Biden will be the prohibitive favorite to win the Democratic nomination, and quite frankly, if the night ends the way it has begun, I think it is time for us to shut this primary down, it is time for us to cancel the rest of these debates,” Clyburn said, “because you don\u2019t do anything but get yourself in trouble if you continue in this contest when it\u2019s obvious that the numbers will not shake out for you.”<\/p>\n Clyburn wasn’t the only party elder ready to put an end to the primary brawl.<\/p>\n “This is all about November, these voters want to shut this thing down,” famed Democratic strategist James Carville said Tuesday night on MSNBC. “Our mission as a party is to defeat Donald Trump.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n All well and good. The reality, of course, is the Dems are terrified Joe will melt down on national TV in a debate with Bernie, and want to limit his exposure to the public as much as possible. He’s already been reduced to seven minute public snippets, and still manages a gaff or two.
