David Goldfein, is designed to make the service friendlier to women, The Gazette reports.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur song must reflect our history, the inspiring service and accomplishments of all who\u2019ve served, and the rich diversity that makes today\u2019s Air Force indisputably the strongest and most capable in the world,\u201d Goldfein wrote in a message to airmen, cadets and academy alumni.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>What?\u00a0 Wait, what is a female (person without penis) called in the Force of the Air?<\/p>\n<p>So, it&#8217;s fine to call a PWP &#8216;AirMan&#8217; in so long as you do not sing it to her\/it\/them?<\/p>\n<p>Please people,\u00a0 try not to be unfriendly to persons without penii.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The change originated when female Air Force Academy cadets asked Goldfein why the anthem\u2019s third verse hailed the bravery of men, but not women.<\/p>\n<p>The third verse is meaningful to cadets at the academy near Colorado Springs, where it is sung after sports victories, but students took issue with the third line: \u201cTo a friend we send a message of his brother men who fly.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Now that there does seem mighty unfriendly.\u00a0 Aren&#8217;t they supposed to &#8216;fly the friendly skies&#8217;?\u00a0 Maybe not.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>In the new version, the line is changed to read, \u201cTo a friend we send a message of the brave who serve on high.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Other gender references in the song remain, including \u201cat \u2018em boys, give \u2018er the gun.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s the right thing to do,\u201d said Lt. Gen.
