The folks at Military Phony<\/a> send us their work on Archie Lee Allen<\/a> who died last month at the age of 71 years old.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Allen had been on the radar about his claims and was asked about his service about a year ago. He claimed he was a Vietnam-era Marine with the MOS of 0311.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

So, in 2018 he was claiming Vietnam-era?\u00a0 Back in 2017, he was claiming Vietnam War veteran.\u00a0 Perhaps that was because the nice folks from the Combat Veterans Association were building a ramp for his house?<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

After Allen was killed in a car crash<\/a> in Dec 2019, we are told that his funeral arrangements consisted of full military honors –\u00a0 flag-draped coffin, 21 gun salute, the playing of “Taps”… the whole nine yards.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

So, what does NPRC have to say about Archie Lee Allen?\u00a0 \u00a0Not much.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

How could a funeral with military honors have happened for someone they cannot confirm has even served?<\/p>\n

The short answer is a combination of trust<\/strong><\/em> and hearsay<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n

At a time like this, nobody wanted to be the one to question Allen\u2019s military service.<\/p>\n

From what we are told, the VFW that did the honors went off of hearsay from the funeral home. The funeral home didn’t have a copy of Allen’s DD-214.<\/p>\n

Everything<\/em> was done off of hearsay.<\/p>\n

Allen is buried in the Military section at Oakwood in Canton, Illinois. He was buried without a DD-214 being shown.<\/p>\n

Several people warned others that Archie did not rate a military funeral.<\/p>\n

Among the skeptical were family members who had been at his side since 1966 and claimed that he never served. Recall that Archie claims to have served from 1966-1971.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

This just goes to show that not everything is a colossal waste of time.<\/p>\n
