AW1 Rod sends us an article today how a Delaware State Senator dared to speak the truth, stating government violating citizens inalienable rights leads to tyranny and worse. His leftist State House peers were of course horrified at such speech, and claimed he was using genocide as an example to further Second Amendment Rights.<\/p>\n

Widespread civil disarmament is a recipe for unbridled tyranny. A Delaware senator made this observation publicly this week and is now taking flak from his progressive peers in the General Assembly.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor we in this chamber to think that it (the Holocaust) can\u2019t happen here? That is absolutely a fool\u2019s errand,\u201d said state Sen. Dave Lawson (R-Kent County) on Monday, while speaking on the Senate floor.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe can when we continue to take away the rights, we continue to work on disarming our population, our legally owned firearms, taking away and continue to encroach on that. \u2026 We continue this path that we\u2019re taking, please don\u2019t forget that everything that Hitler did was legal. Murdering those people was legal. Disarming those people was legal. Do we want to follow that same path? Because I\u2019m telling you, from where I sit, it\u2019s not that far away.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sen. Lawson made his comments while the chamber was voting on a bill to have Delaware officially recognize International Holocaust Remembrance Day, Jan. 27th \u2014 a bill Lawson supported.<\/p>\n

During the proceedings, 89-year-old Holocaust survivor Ann Jaffe shared her story. One of Lawson\u2019s critics claim that he unfairly politicized Jaffe\u2019s experience and that he should apologize for doing so.<\/p>\n

\u201cSen. Lawson took that horrifying recounting of surviving a genocide, and while Ms. Jaffe was still in the chamber, tried to turn her somber story into a Second Amendment argument,\u201d said state Rep. Debra Heffernan (D-Bellefonte). \u201cSen. Lawson owes Ms. Jaffe an apology.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lawson, a former cop, responded Tuesday, arguing that his comments about the government infringing on individual rights actually resonated with Ms. Jaffe.<\/p>\n

\u201cMrs. Jaffe understood exactly what I was saying,\u201d Lawson told Delaware Online. \u201cAnd she sat there and nodded the whole time I was talking. And I walked over and talked to her afterwards. \u2026 I don\u2019t owe her an apology or anyone else in the Holocaust. That\u2019s bizarre. That\u2019s a twist, an absolute twist by the Democrat machine. I don\u2019t owe anyone an apology. This is a country that supports free speech \u2026 I have a right to say those things.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
