Authorities: Boy Justified In Fatal Stabbing Of Home Invasion Suspect In Allentown<\/strong><\/p>\n

ALLENTOWN, N.J. (AP) \u2013 A juvenile who fatally stabbed a man who was attempting a home invasion robbery was justified in using deadly force because he acted in self-defense, authorities have determined. Luis Nieves, 48, forced open the door of an Allentown home around 5:30 p.m. Sunday and started attacking the youth, who lived in the home, according to the Lehigh County District Attorney\u2019s office.<\/p>\n

Nieves struck the youth with a metal cane during the struggle, and the boy stabbed Nieves.<\/p>\n

Nieves and the youth were both taken to the hospital, where Nieves was pronounced dead a short time later. The youth, whose name and age were not released, was treated for undisclosed injuries and was later released.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Police: Man says he shot teen in self-defense<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nANDERSON \u2014 A teenager was in serious condition Friday after he was shot multiple times by a man who said the teen was trying to rob him at gunpoint.<\/p>\n

Darrian Parkhurst, 23, of Anderson told police he shot Quentin Steffler, 18, of Anderson in self-defense around 4:09 a.m. Friday, according to Maj. Joel Sandefur with the Anderson Police Department.<\/p>\n

Parkhurst told police he shot Steffler multiple times after Steffler tried to rob him while Parkhurst was sitting in his car in the 1500 block of Nichol Avenue, Sandefur said.<\/p>\n

Steffler was found in the roadway of Laurel Street, near the 1500 block of Nichol Avenue, with gunshot wounds, Sandefur said. Parkhurst stayed at the scene of the shooting until police arrived, then was taken to the police department for questioning. Police said he was not under arrest.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Man won’t be charged in fatal light-rail stabbing near Mall of America<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Hennepin County Attorney\u2019s Office will not file charges in the fatal stabbing this week on a Blue Line light-rail train in Bloomington.<\/p>\n

In a news release, the office said the 67-year-old man suspected in the Thursday stabbing will not be charged \u201cas we would be unable to disprove a claim of self-defense.\u201d<\/p>\n

The stabbing occurred about 1 a.m. Thursday after a verbal altercation between two men as the northbound train left the Mall of America station. They exchanged words, which led to a physical fight. At one point one of the men pulled a knife, officials said.<\/p>\n

Anthony Demetrius Watson, 45, of Minneapolis, was taken to HCMC in Minneapolis, where he died.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
