The State of California refuses to engage in oil drilling and extractions, and is relying on Russian oil to keep its heavily populated automotive sector dependent on foreign oil.

https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/russian-funded-environmental-group-gave-millions-to-anti-fracking-groups

Per the June 2018 article, Vlad Putin is spending some considerably cash on environmental groups to keep LaLaLand dependent on foreign oil.

From the article: So far, no hard evidence has emerged that says Donald Trump knowingly colluded with Russia during the 2016 campaign.

But there is plenty of evidence in the form of a tangible money trail that links Vladimir Putin’s Russian government with U.S. environmental groups. In fact, the source of this funding has been subject of two congressional committee inquiries. Most recently, Rep. Lamar Smith, R-Texas, who chairs the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee, released a report in March that explores Russia’s motives for disrupting America’s energy sector.

“Russia benefits from stirring up controversy about U.S. energy production,” Smith said in a press release. “U.S. energy exports to European countries are increasing, which means they will have less reason to rely upon Russia for their energy needs. This, in turn, will reduce Russia’s influence on Europe to Russia’s detriment and Europe’s benefit. That’s why Russian agents attempted to manipulate Americans’ opinions about pipelines, fossil fuels, fracking and climate change. The American people deserve to know if what they see on social media is the creation of a foreign power seeking to undermine our domestic energy policy.” – article

What have we here? The usual misguided idiots thinking that not using our own resources is better for the environment, without their taking into account that California drivers create a larger CO2 emissions volume than any place else except China. And I know that the people who are in charge there are mostly coastal denizens. I get that. But even Chicago, with its own high volume of commuter traffic which is partly relieved by commuter rail and bus lines, is not this bad.

The Washington Examiner article may be six months old, but it is part of an ongoing story.

In addition, the WUWT article linked below indicates that the State of California is refusing to be energy independent and continues to increasingly rely on energy production of both electricity and oil/gas for its needs outside the state boundaries. https://wattsupwiththat.com/2020/01/22/california-files-lawsuit-to-remain-a-national-security-risk/

This is the kind of foolishness that drives any entity, whether a corporate firm or a state government, into bankruptcy. In addition, since there is a Navy base at San Diego, this reliance on outside sources for energy products does pose a security risk. Hey, Navy! There’s room elsewhere for an active working base.

Count on California to do everything bass ackwards!
