Alexandria Cortez has plenty of bright ideas for the Democratic Party. (beforeitsnews\/offthegridnews)<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Alexandria Cortez stated that there was no “party on the left”. According to her, the Democratic Party is either in the center or right-of-center of the political spectrum. She commented on how they tried to get leftist initiatives voted on. But, to no avail. She also mentioned that there were other leftist members who are trying to get the Democratic Party to shift to the left.<\/p>\n

One of the significant things about this is that Cortez is a member of a generation that doesn’t have as many worries about socialism as the older generations. Enter David Hogg’s comments about the pro-Second Amendment rally in Richmond. These are just two samples of younger Democrat philosophy.<\/p>\n

The Democratic Party is shifting further left and has been doing so for decades. The Millennial Generation, and Generation Z, appear to be more comfortable with leftist ideals to the left of what older Democrats are comfortable with.<\/p>\n

The Democratic “Squad” member also compared Monday’s gun rights protest in Richmond, Va., to the protests that followed the deaths of Freddie Gray and Eric Garner and questioned what she thought was the lack of police presence at the commonwealth’s capital.<\/p>\n

“There’s this gun rights protest that’s going on in Richmond … on MLK Day, but here’s the image that has [stuck] with me the most about that is that when we go out and march for the dignity and the recognition of the lives of people like Freddie Gray and Eric Garner<\/strong><\/span><\/span>,” Ocasio-Cortez explained, “the whole place is surrounded by police in riot gear without a gun in sight. And here are all of these people flying Confederate flags with semiautomatic weapons and there’s almost no police officers at that protest.<\/span><\/strong>”<\/p>\n

She then asked, “So who or what are our institutions protecting from who? And that image conveys it all, conveys it all<\/strong><\/span>.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Police reacting differently towards conservative demonstrators than towards liberal demonstrators? Perhaps someone could answer the question for her.<\/p>\n
