Police: Mother shoots, kills adult son outside her home<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nTULSA, Okla. (KTUL) \u2014 Tulsa police are investigating what led up to a mother shooting and killing her son outside her home near North Peoria and 51st Street North on Tuesday afternoon.<\/p>\n

Officers say the mother and son got into an argument in her driveway, and the mother ended up shooting the son, who police later identified as 24-year-old Jamel Barnett.<\/p>\n

“He did not live with here with her,” said Dedlorn Sander with the Tulsa Police Department. “I don’t know what the relationship is but whatever happened, it forced her to do what she did.”<\/p>\n

After a full afternoon of interviews, Tulsa homicide detectives released the mother from custody.<\/p>\n

“We won’t be arresting her,” said Sgt. Brandon Watkins. “We’ll still be investigating.”<\/p>\n

Watkins went on to say that the woman is claiming self-defense.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
