12 Shot, 5 Killed in Democrat-Controlled Baltimore<\/strong> 79-year-old man accused of gunning down car burglary suspect<\/strong> A 79-year-old man is accused of fatally shooting a man suspected of breaking into his car.<\/p>\n The shooting happened about 9:30 a.m. Wednesday near North 42nd Street and West Silver Spring Drive in Milwaukee.<\/p>\n “I heard gunshots. It was four of them,” Brandy Johnson said. “I seen somebody laying right there. I didn’t know who it was.”<\/p>\n The victim turned out to be her 20-year-old brother, Billy Ray Johnson.<\/p>\n “The whole time, it was my brother,” she said. “My brother was laying right there by himself.”<\/p>\n WISN 12 News learned the deadly shooting stemmed from a car break-in.<\/p>\n Sources said Billy Ray Johnson’s neighbor confronted him as he rummaged through the neighbor’s car.<\/p>\n Police arrested the shooter at the scene, but he has since been released.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n 1 \/ 0 \/ 0 One person charged after shots fired in parking lot of Walmart<\/strong> SAN ANTONIO \u2014 One person was arrested at the Walmart on Southeast Military Drive after a report of a shot fired in the parking lot.<\/p>\n The shooting was reported at around 9:30 a.m. Friday morning.<\/p>\n Police say someone was harassing people in the parking lot of the store. That’s when another man with a gun fired a shot, according to police.<\/p>\n No one was injured, but the man with a gun was taken to be questioned by police. Police say the man seen harassing customers was arrested and charged with criminal mischief.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n 0 \/ 1 \/ 0 Robber shot during smoke shop holdup sentenced to life in prison<\/strong><\/p>\n By TOMMY WITHERSPOON Jurors in Waco\u2019s 19th State District Court deliberated about three hours before deciding punishment for Carlos Dawayne Robinson, 32, of the Satin community.<\/p>\n Robinson, who was on probation for possession of 11 grams of methamphetamine when he robbed Tee\u2019s Smoke Shop, 3528 N. 19th St., in July 2017, pleaded guilty and elected to have the jury assess his punishment.<\/p>\n He previously rejected a 20-year plea bargain from prosecutors. But that was before he was linked to the robbery of another smoke shop on Lake Air Drive when his DNA was found on a pistol magazine he mistakenly ejected during the robbery.<\/p>\n After that, prosecutors Amanda Smith and Christi Hunting Horse offered him 40 years in a subsequent plea bargain that Robinson also rejected. Robinson must serve at least 30 years in prison before he can seek parole.<\/p>\n Smith, who called Robinson the \u201cmasked face of evil\u201d in jury summations Thursday, told jurors Robinson earned a life prison term through his violent actions and lengthy criminal history.<\/p>\n \u201cThe jury sent a clear, swift message to anyone considering committing a violent crime at any place in this county,\u201d Smith said. \u201cThey also told law enforcement with their verdict that the people of the community will back them with their verdicts. We are happy with the result.\u201d<\/p>\n Robinson\u2019s attorney, Sam Martinez, declined comment after trial.<\/p>\n Robinson, who worked 10 years for a construction maintenance company, committed a robbery as a juvenile when he was 16 and has a misdemeanor conviction for theft, two for possession of marijuana, two for evading police and one for failure to ID. At the time of the smoke shop robberies, he was serving eight years deferred probation for possession of 11 grams of methamphetamine from Bosque County.<\/p>\n He pleaded guilty to charging into Tee\u2019s Smoke Shop, wearing a mask and pointing a pistol at owner Talal Safi. Store video captured the incident. It shows Safi pulling a pistol and firing shots at the retreating Robinson.<\/p>\n Robinson was shot twice in the stomach and once in the left arm. He was taken to a hospital by an acquaintance of his who was pulling into the store parking lot as the incident played out.<\/p>\n Waco police took samples of Robinson\u2019s blood at the scene and linked it to DNA found on a pistol magazine a masked robber dropped during the robbery of the Lake Air store in May 2017. In that incident, the robber came in to the store at 6 a.m. and bashed a sleeping employee over the head with a pistol.<\/p>\n Robinson was arrested in that robbery but has not been indicted. It was unclear Thursday how his life sentence will affect the pending case.<\/p>\n In jury summations, Martinez asked jurors to consider that Robinson suffered pain after being shot during the robbery, that he accepted responsibility for his actions by pleading guilty and that defense witnesses said he was an attentive father to his son and stepson.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n 0 \/ 1 \/ 0 To prohibit a citizen from wearing or carrying a war arm . . . is an unwarranted restriction upon the constitutional right to keep and bear arms.
