The WrestlingInc.com reports<\/a> that WWE superstar personality “Sgt Slaughter” is being accused of Stolen Valor.<\/p>\n

Say it isn’t so.<\/p>\n

In case you have any doubt – Santa Claus is real, wresting is not fake and Epstein killed himself.\u00a0 *cough*<\/strong><\/p>\n

The transgression that Sgt. Slaughter made was making claims in non-kayfabe interviews.<\/p>\n

In\u00a0professional wrestling,\u00a0kayfabe<\/b>\u00a0(pronounced\u00a0KAY-fayb) refers to the portrayal of events within the industry as real, that is the portrayal of professional wrestling as not staged or\u00a0worked<\/a>. Referring to events as kayfabe means that they are worked events, and\/or part of a wrestling\u00a0storyline<\/a>. In relative terms, a wrestler breaking kayfabe during a show would be likened to an\u00a0actor<\/a> breaking character on camera. (from: eWrestling Encyclopedia)<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

WWE Hall of Famer\u00a0Sgt. Slaughter\u00a0(Robert Remus) is being called out for talking about his worked military background as if it was real in non-kayfabe interviews.<\/p>\n

The story behind Slaughter’s\u00a0WWE\u00a0character is that he was a drill instructor in the United States Marines. Slaughter would repeat this claim and tell related stories during non-kayfabe interviews from over the years. Slaughter was still telling these stories as recent as February 2019 as\u00a0he told Sam Roberts and Jim Norton\u00a0that he served two tours of duty in Vietnam. There are no other interviews where Slaughter gave details of his service, and it looks like that is because he never actually served in the military at all.<\/p>\n

Slaughter claimed that he served 6 years in the US Marine Corps, from 1966 until 1973, but there’s an issue with that claim as Slaughter started wrestling for the AWA promotion in 1972.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Here is an interview that was a bone of contention where he says he was in Vietnam.<\/p>\n

Referring to Vietnam, the interviewer asks “Were you messed up when you came back?” which, ironically, is being asked of a man that wears stripper glitter on his hat.<\/p>\n

Also of note, the SSgt rank is that of the Army and not Marines and the woodland camo is modern day and not from Vietnam “times.”<\/p>\n
