Lots of interesting items on the interwebs today. I hadn’t heard of Mr. Mostafa before, and I’ll be willing to wager most non-LEO TAH’ers haven’t, either. Time to fix that.<\/p>\n

Late last year, the U.S. government upped the ante on Jehad Serwan Mostafa \u2013 a 38-year-old American citizen and former San Diego resident \u2013 branding him the most wanted American terrorist in the world.<\/p>\n

\u201cMostafa is believed to be the highest-ranking United States citizen fighting overseas for a terrorist organization,\u201d U.S. Attorney Robert Brewer stated. \u201cAl-Shabab\u2019s reign of terror threatens U.S. national security, our international allies, and innocent civilians.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to a recently unsealed federal indictment, the U.S. citizen \u2013 who has for years been on the FBI\u2019s Most Wanted Terror list \u2013 has been charged with additional crimes related to his alleged involvement with Al Qaeda affiliate Al-Shabab in East Africa.<\/p>\n

Mostafa was first indicted in 2010, having fled the U.S. in December 2005. The superseding indictment expands the scope of the previous charges. It claims that Mostafa, at some point between March 2008 to at least February 2017, \u201cconspired to provide material support, including himself as personnel to terrorists.\u201d<\/p>\n

Now operating under \u201cAhmed Gurey,\u201d \u201cAhmed,\u201d \u201cAbu Anwar al-Muhajir\u201d and \u201cAbu Abdullah al-Muhajir,\u201d the FBI stated that Mostafa is a leader in Al-Shabab\u2019 s \u201cexplosives department,\u201d and has taken on critical roles across the media and soldier training wings. He has been implicated in improving the effectiveness of improvised explosive devices for purposes of attacking U.S. interests and soldier bases in the area, government officials have stated.<\/p>\n

But sources told Fox News his entanglement runs far deeper.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
