(r\/The_Donald)<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The Democrats are insisting on &#8220;having a fair trial&#8221; with a push to have select witnesses and documentation brought to bear. Neither party appears to be in agreement with the other as to the nature of witnesses and documents that should be used during the trial.<\/p>\n<p>Senator McConnell announced that he had enough votes to move forward with the impeachment without reaching an initial agreement on witnesses. Witness discussion could be brought up later. McConnell wants to use the method used by the Senate during Clinton&#8217;s impeachment trial.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">From Fox News:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;<strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">We will not let them avoid the vote. They can delay it, but they can&#8217;t avoid it<\/span><\/strong>,&#8221; Schumer, D-N.Y., said.<\/p>\n<p>Democrats amplified those demands after a key figure in the impeachment inquiry, former national security adviser John Bolton, said he would be willing to testify if subpoenaed.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">But McConnell has maintained all along that he wants to model the impeachment trial for Trump after that of former President Bill Clinton, by dealing with potential witnesses after the trial begins.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>And even as McConnell claims the votes to be able to proceed, <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">he insists the chamber first needs to receive the articles of impeachment from the House.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Speaker Nancy Pelosi has been holding onto those charges ever since last month, hoping to extract favorable terms for a trial.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s time for Speaker Pelosi to get on with it or get out of the way,&#8221; Sen. John Barrasso, R-Wyo., said Tuesday.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>After running a congressional version of a kangaroo court, the Democrats are all of a sudden demanding a fair trial.
