Saginaw parolee arrested after \u2018celebratory gunfire\u2019 on New Year\u2019s Eve<\/strong><\/p>\n By Cole Waterman About 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 31, Michigan State Police troopers in the area of Wilkins and Cambrey streets heard \u201cconsistent celebratory gunfire,\u201d according to Special 1st Lt. David Kaiser. The cacophony continued and troopers pinpointed its origins to a house on the corner of Van Etten and Gallagher streets.<\/p>\n Troopers received backup before contacting those at the residence. As troopers and Saginaw police officers approached the house, a 26-year-old man stepped outside with a pistol in his hand, Kaiser said.<\/p>\n Police ordered the man to the ground and secured him. Another person in the doorway saw the officers and tried running back into the house, only to also be detained, Kaiser said.<\/p>\n The homeowner allowed police to search the house. Police discovered multiple shell casings, ammunition boxes, and several guns around the house\u2019s back door and garage area, Kaiser said.<\/p>\n Looking through the windows of of vehicles in the driveway, police noticed several more cased long guns in one car, Kaiser said. A 21-year-old man at the residence told police the car and the long guns were his and that he had fired three of them earlier in the night, Kaiser said.<\/p>\n Three long guns and an additional handgun were seized by police. Police determined the 26-year-old man was a convicted felon on parole. They arrested him on charges of parole violation, felon in possession of a firearm, felony firearm, and reckless discharge of a firearm.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n 0 \/ 1 \/ 0 Man Fatally Shoots Ex-Girlfriend In Apparent Act Of Self-Defense<\/strong><\/p>\n A man fatally shot his ex-girlfriend in an apparent act of self-defense after she and another man who was armed attempted to assault him at his home in Dublin late Thursday morning, police said.<\/p>\n Officers who responded to the 3400 block of Monaghan Street in Dublin at about 11:30 a.m. on Thursday to investigate a report of a home-invasion robbery found a 28-year-old woman and a 28-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds, Dublin police spokesman Capt. Nate Schmidt said in a news release.<\/p>\n The woman was pronounced dead at the scene and the man who was with her was transported to a hospital to be treated for wounds that aren’t considered life-threatening, according to Schmidt.<\/p>\n The man who lives at the house told investigators that he was asleep when he awoke to banging on his front door, Schmidt said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n 1 \/ 1 \/ 0 Man who threatened to kill New Year’s Eve partygoers in Canton shot, killed by armed guest<\/strong><\/p>\n Mathew Richards On January 1, 2020, at approximately 2:30 a.m., the Canton Police Department, Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Office, and the Texas Department of Public Safety responded to a residence in the 500 block of Buffalo Street for a reported shooting.<\/p>\n Upon arrival, police discovered 61-year-old Alan Bates of Plano, Texas, deceased of multiple apparent gunshot wounds.<\/p>\n Bates, according to police, was an attendee at the New Year’s Eve party at the house.<\/p>\n “During the party, Bates became highly agitated at other attendees of the party, became aggressive, and made threats towards a couple who were also visiting the residence,” read a statement from the Canton Police Department. “The couple chose to leave the party to avoid a confrontation.”<\/p>\n Despite the couple leaving, witnesses told police they attempted to calm Bates down and, after he became aggressive and threatening to other partygoers, he was asked to leave the residence.<\/p>\n Police say Bates went to his vehicle, retrieved a handgun, and “walked back towards the residence while screaming threats to kill people inside,” according to police.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n 1 \/ 0 \/ 0 Two down and two inconvenienced, Delta Whiskies and Whiskettes.
