Without government, as among our Indians. 2. Under governments wherein the will of every one has a just influence, as is the case in England in a slight degree, and in our states in a great one. 3. Under governments of force: as is the case in all other monarchies and in most of the other republics. To have an idea of the curse of existence under these last, they must be seen. It is a government of wolves over sheep. It is a problem, not clear in my mind, that the 1st. condition is not the best. But I believe it to be inconsistent with any great degree of population. The second state has a great deal of good in it. The mass of mankind under that enjoys a precious degree of liberty and happiness. It has it’s evils too: the principal of which is the turbulence to which it is subject. But weigh this against the oppression of monarchy, and it becomes nothing. Malo periculosam, libertatem quam quietam servitutem* . Even this evil is productive of good. It prevents the degeneracy of government, and nourishes a general attention to the public affairs. I hold it that a little rebellion now and then is a good thing, and as necessary in the political world as storms in the physical.1 Unsuccessful rebellions indeed generally establish the encroachments on the rights of the people which have produced them. There is more to come on this, which I will post when it is appropriate. The man gunned down was a good man, per his girlfriend, his friends and his mother. He had NO gang affiliations. At the state level, it can be done in 20 states including Virginia, and while there is nothing to indicate that the other 30 states have such laws, it may become a necessity.

In the 20 states that allow recall elections, citizens can vote to remove an elected official from office at any time. Typically, the recall process consists of gathering a certain number of signatures on a petition in a certain amount of time. Beyond this, details of the recall process vary by state. The following information explains these processes and provides a list of each state’s laws governing the recall of state officials. – http://www.ncsl.org/research/elections-and-campaigns/recall-of-state-officials.aspx

At the bottom of this page is a map of the states that allow recall of elected officials. Virginia is only one of them. In that state, it might be a good idea for the head of the local National Guard units to tell Northam that the Guard is not meant to confiscate legally owned property and that this ain’t the 18th century, either.

https://ballotpedia.org/States_with_gubernatorial_recall_provisions

Sorry I didn’t post this sooner, but the discussion needs to be carried far and wide and the emphasis should always be placed on those who try to overturn any Constitutional right that I, for one, do not take for granted.
