Employee shot gunman during Kalamazoo liquor store robbery, police say<\/strong><\/p>\n By Lindsay Moore The suspected robber sustained non-life-threatening injuries from a gunshot wound to the arm, Kalamazoo County Sheriff Undersheriff Jim VanDyken said.<\/p>\n Employees of a neighboring business reported hearing gunshots and hysterics inside the liquor store before calling 911.<\/p>\n The sheriff\u2019s department, Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety and Western Michigan University Police responded to the store, located near the corner of West KL Avenue and South Drake Road, at about 12:49 p.m. Thursday, according to a news release from the sheriff\u2019s office.<\/p>\n An employee of the liquor store used a handgun to stop the robber, VanDyken said. The employee\u2019s actions will be reviewed by the prosecutor, he said.<\/p>\n The suspect fled on foot with an unknown amount of cash, and was later found and arrested by officers searching the area around Nottingham Place Apartments directly behind the store, VanDyken said. The men told officers they told Sanabria to put his gun down, but he allegedly refused.
