Shootings at two naval installations have claimed the lives of three victims with seven injured at NAS Pensacola, Florida, and another incident at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard, Hawaii, with two fatalities and one injured before the shooter turned his gun on himself.<\/p>\n

The gunman who opened fire Friday morning at Naval Air Station Pensacola in Florida, fatally shooting three people, has been identified as an aviation student from Saudi Arabia as investigators are looking into whether the attack is terrorism-related.<\/p>\n
The shooter — who was wielding a handgun, despite firearms not being allowed on base — was confronted and taken out by a pair of responding officers, officials say. Two people were killed at the scene while a third victim died after being rushed to a local hospital. Seven others suffered injuries and are undergoing treatment, including the two officers, one of whom was shot in the arm and the other in the knee. Both are expected to survive.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

New details have emerged about the sailor who fatally shot two people and injured a third before turning a pistol on himself at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard on Wednesday, just days before veterans observe the 78th anniversary of the infamous Japanese attack that catapulted the country into World War II.<\/p>\n
The shooter was identified Thursday as 22-year-old G. Romero, a military official told the Associated Press.<\/p>\n
An updated official U.S. Navy incident report obtained Thursday by Fox News describes the shooter as a 22-year-old male active duty sailor assigned to the fast-attack submarine USS Columbia. Neither the gunman nor the victims have been officially identified yet.<\/p>\n
The shooter \u201copened fire on shipyard personnel with his M4 service rifle and then turned his M9 service pistol on himself,\u201d the report says. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis stated that the government of Saudi Arabia needs to atone for these victims and their families. He has spoken to President Trump about the shooting, he told reporters during a press conference Friday afternoon. “They are going to owe a debt here given that this is one of their individuals.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cAnyone who serves in the Navy knows that this is a special place, Naval Air Station Pensacola,” DeSantis added. “All these brave warriors who wear the wings, they come through here for flight training. And so this is a dark day for a very great place.”<\/p>\n
At Pearl Harbor, all three victims were civilian Department of Defense employees. The wounded victim was in critical condition, the report said, though that person\u2019s injuries weren\u2019t specified.<\/p>\n
No clear motive has emerged in the aftermath of the attacks and it\u2019s not clear if the shooters and victims had any prior relationship or even knew each other.<\/p>\n
