The statement by Foreign Ministry adviser Kim Kye Gwan is the latest call by North Korea for U.S. concessions ahead of\u00a0an end-of-year deadline<\/a>\u00a0set by Kim Jong Un for the Trump administration to offer mutually acceptable terms for a deal to salvage nuclear diplomacy.<\/p>\n

Following a U.S. decision over the weekend to\u00a0call off joint military exercises<\/a>\u00a0with South Korea to\u00a0create space for diplomacy<\/a>\u00a0with the North, Trump in a tweet urged Kim Jong Un to \u201cact quickly, get the deal done\u201d and hinted at another summit between them, saying \u201cSee you soon!\u201d<\/p>\n

But Kim Kye Gwan reiterated his government\u2019s stance that Washington must discard what North Korea sees as\u00a0\u201chostile\u201d policies\u00a0<\/a>to keep the negotiations alive.<\/p>\n
