PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — An off-duty Philadelphia police officer opened fire after authorities say he was threatened by two teenagers.<\/p>\n

It happened around 2:30 a.m. Saturday on the 1000 block of West Chelten Avenue in the East Oak Lane section of the city.<\/p>\n

The 18th District officer had just finished his shift and was parking his truck near his home when a 17-year-old boy tapped on the driver side window with a gun, according to police. A second 17-year-old boy, who did not have a gun, approached the passenger side window and told the officer to get out or he was going to get killed.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Denver homeowner shoots suspected burglar, police say <\/strong><\/p>\n

\nDENVER \u2013 A homeowner shot a man who was allegedly trying to break into the home through a window Friday night, police said.<\/p>\n

The suspect, Aaron Rivers, 25, was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The shooting happened late Friday in the 4600 block of Wyandot in the Sunnyside neighborhood of northwest Denver. <\/p>\n

Police said Rivers tried to break into the home through the front door. But when he didn’t make it inside, he began damaging furniture on the porch and broke the home’s front window, police said. He tried to enter the home through the window and the homeowner fired several shots, striking Rivers in the arm, police said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Man Killed in Gunfight at Victorville Apartment Complex<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nA man died after a fight escalated into a gun battle at a Victorville apartment complex Friday evening, authorities said.<\/p>\n

Thurman Matthew, 40, of Victorville died at the scene of the shooting, which unfolded about 6:30 p.m. at the Casa Bella apartments, 16980 Nisqualli Road, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff\u2019s Department.<\/p>\n

He was fatally shot by Parnell Gutter, 28, of Victorville, officials said. Gutter had not been arrested Saturday, according to San Bernardino County booking records. Investigators said they planned to turn over their completed investigation to the San Bernardino County District Attorney\u2019s Office for consideration of charges.<\/p>\n

\u201cDetectives determined Parnell Gutter and Thurman Mathew were involved in an argument, and later it became a physical altercation,\u201d the sheriff\u2019s department said in a written statement. A short time after the fight, Mathew went to Gutter\u2019s apartment and began shooting at the apartment, at which time Gutter returned fire and struck Mathew.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
