Hunting season should be well underway by now, although the Canada geese seem to not want to leave until they’re forced to at the head of a snowstorm. Even so, they sometimes stick around all winter if it isn’t too awful and people are silly enough to feed them.\u00a0 Ice fishing will start in a few months, if the ice is thick enough.\u00a0 Check your Almanac for the long range forecasts. They’re usually about 80% correct, but it’s generalized for an area, not a small location.<\/p>\n
We were subjected to an unpleasant early snow in the general area, brought in by a swooping swoop of cold air from the northwest. It dumped 5.25 inches of white fluff stuff on my front steps and I have yet to convince my cat to pick up a shovel and deal with the snow. She would rather pound her ears in her little nest, and have the usual dreams about hunting for rodents.<\/p>\n
