Ryan Flood, with the Greenville County Sheriff&#8217;s Office.<\/p>\n<p>The shooting happened about 6:30 p.m. outside the store on East North Street.<\/p>\n<p>Flood said Robert Harold Mattson, 26, charged a man and placed him in a chokehold during an altercation.<\/p>\n<p>The victim shot Mattson in self-defense, and Mattson was taken to the hospital, Flood said.<\/p>\n<p>His injuries were described as non-life-threatening, Flood said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>0 \/ 1 \/ 0<br \/>\nRead the rest of the article here: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wyff4.com\/article\/man-shoots-another-man-in-self-defense-outside-greenville-bilo-store-deputies-say\/29590423#\">WYFF 4<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Man found to be justified in Oak Island motel shooting<\/strong><br \/>\nBy Hunter Ingram<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Bryan Thomas Lopes, 39, will not be charged with shooting Paul Willard Dobson, 47, who came crashing into his room on Oct. 20.<\/p>\n<p>OAK ISLAND \u2013 A Lincolnton man will not be charged for shooting an intruder in his motel room last Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>On Friday, Brunswick County District Attorney Jon David announced that Bryan Thomas Lopes, 39, was found to be legally justified in shooting Paul Willard Dobson, 47, when he came crashing into Lopes\u2019 room at the Ocean Crest Motel on Oct. 20. The shooting was found to be justified under \u201cdefense of habitation\u201d doctrine, according to a release from David\u2019s office.<\/p>\n<p>The incident happened just after midnight. Lopes told authorities he was asleep with his wife in their room when they heard a loud disturbance outside. Lopes retrieved his handgun from his bedside table and went to the door to investigate. (WOWK) \u2013 A home where a man was fatally shot Wednesday, October 23, 2019, was set on fire early Thursday morning.<\/p>\n<p>Police say the series of incidents began Wednesday when Cabell County 911 received a call around 6 p.m. from a woman stating that a man was trying to enter her residence with a gun.<\/p>\n<p>When Huntington Police officers arrived, they found Christopher Johnson, 31, of Michigan, with a gunshot wound. Johnson was taken to Cabell Huntington Hospital where he died from his injuries a short time later.<\/p>\n<p>The resident, Alicia Freeman, 40, also from Michigan, told investigators that Johnson came to the residence with a gun and demanded money. Several children and Freeman\u2019s boyfriend were in the residence when Johnson arrived.<\/p>\n<p>According to Freeman and other witnesses, Johnson pointed the gun at several people, threatened them, and attempted to shoot Freeman\u2019s boyfriend. Witnesses say the gun malfunctioned and a fight ensued. During the altercation, Freeman said Johnson began fighting with one of her children.
