It seems that the notion of a state, county, or municipality declaring officially itself a “gun sanctuary” is growing more than I had realized.\u00a0 The article below, from a city in California located on the CA\/NV border, is from July, but it is still relevant. The article about a growing number of gun owners in the Boston area is recent and also very relevant. As I indicated in the FGS article, the movement to create sanctuaries is growing, and we should keep up with it.<\/p>\n

The city of Needles, CA, is rebelling against the state\u2019s strict gun laws, which do not recognize concealed carry licenses from other states.<\/p>\n

Commissioners in Jefferson County said it was important to them and members of the community to show support for the Second Amendment.<\/p>\n

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Tenn. \u2014 Jefferson and Sevier Counties are now considered “gun sanctuaries.” \u00a0They join Monroe, Blount and Loudon Counties who previously passed similar resolutions.<\/p>\n

Both counties passed the Second Amendment gun sanctuary resolutions Monday night at their county commission meetings. This comes after the Town of Dandridge passed a similar resolution earlier in October.<\/p>\n

It’s more like insurance.<\/p>\n

For instance, One of the sponsors of the sanctuary resolution in\u00a0Jefferson County, Todd Kesterson,\u00a0<\/a>said in a statement:<\/p>\n

“We are seeing how many politicians on the Federal level are working toward gun confiscation in efforts to skew or change how the 2A reads. We feel like our freedoms are under attack and wanted to join several of our surrounding counties in letting the State and Federal Governments know that we disagree with these efforts.” – article<\/em><\/p>\n

In 20 communities south of Boston, the number of licenses issued from 2013 to 2018 was almost 50 percent higher than the number issued in the six years prior.<\/p>\n

In 2009, 10 people were issued gun licenses in Hull, a town with a population of a little more than 10,000.<\/p>\n

By 2017, the number of licenses issued in the town had shot up to 109.<\/p>\n

Hull isn\u2019t alone. Across two presidential administrations representing both parties, endless gun control debates and countless mass shootings, more and more people on the South Shore have sought gun licenses. – article<\/p>\n
