No charges filed in Durango man\u2019s death<\/strong>
\nAuthorities say shooter acted in self-defense<\/em><\/p>\n

\nAuthorities will not pursue charges in the death of a 30-year-old Durango man who was shot and killed in August near the Colorado-New Mexico state line.<\/p>\n

\u201cUpon reviewing the investigation and evidence in the case, and after discussing thoroughly with the investigating officers from the La Plata County Sheriff\u2019s Office, the District Attorney\u2019s Office has determined that there is no reasonable likelihood of conviction in this case, and has thus declined to file charges,\u201d 6th Judicial District Attorney Christian Champagne wrote in an email to The Durango Herald.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe evidence clearly supported that the suspect was acting in self-defense, and there is insufficient evidence to the contrary that would justify bringing criminal charges,\u201d he added.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Gregg County Sheriff\u2019s deputy shoots, kills suspect after violent fight on I-20<\/strong><\/p>\n

UPDATE (10:15 A.M.) \u2013 The Gregg County Sheriff\u2019s Office has released the identity of the suspect killed by a deputy late Sunday night after a violent fight on I-20.<\/p>\n

Dewayne Morgan, 37, is from Tatum and had convictions for violence in Gregg County.<\/p>\n

Back in 2006, Morgan pled guilty charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and was sentenced to 12 years in prison.<\/p>\n

Deputy Tubb also released the identity of the deputy involved as Logan Joines. He is 31 years old and from Longview, according to public records.<\/p>\n

According to Tubb, Joines had a violent fight with Morgan in the ditch off I-20 and was forced to shoot him. Tubb said that Joines attempted to use his taser, but it was ineffective.<\/p>\n

Morgan died of his injuries at a Marshall hospital.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Howard County police: Father fatally shoots son during domestic dispute in Marriottsville<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nHoward County police say a father fatally shot his son in Marriottsville on Tuesday night during a domestic dispute.<\/p>\n

Stephen Michael Tucker, 38, of Randallstown, died at the scene after reportedly being shot once by his father, Stephen Dwight Tucker, 68, of Marriottsville, according to police.<\/p>\n

Officers were called to the 1500 block of Marriottsville Road at 8:16 p.m. for a report that a man had been shot. When they arrived on scene, they found the son dead and his father with visible injuries, according to police.<\/p>\n

Howard County police said officials are consulting with Howard County\u2019s state\u2019s attorney\u2019s office and that no charges have been announced relating to the incident Tuesday night. Police said that \u201cno additional information is available at this early stage; the investigation is ongoing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Police wrote in a statement released Wednesday morning that the shooting occurred during an altercation between the two men after the son had allegedly assaulted and injured a different family member at another residence and damaged property shortly before driving to his father\u2019s house.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
