Texas man allegedly guns down home invader, goes back to bed<\/strong><\/p>\n Police say a Texas man shot and killed a suspected burglar then went back to sleep without calling authorities, according to the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office.<\/p>\n James Michael Meyer told police he woke up at 5 a.m. on Thursday when he heard a noise outside.<\/p>\n He says he saw someone trying to break into his storage so he grabbed his handgun.<\/p>\n Meyer says he warned the man to leave but he didn’t.<\/p>\n He told police the suspected burglar took steps toward him that’s when he fired two shots.<\/p>\n Meyer claims he didn’t know he hit someone so he went back to sleep.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n 1 \/ 0 \/ 0 Friday shooting victim was shot in self-defense, Montgomery police say<\/strong><\/p>\n Melissa Brown Montgomery police on Monday announced they were conducting a death investigation into the Sept. 27 shooting, rather than a homicide investigation. They have not identified the deceased.<\/p>\n “The circumstances surrounding the shooting initially were unknown,” MPD Capt. Regina Duckett said in a release. “Further investigation indicates that the deceased subject fired shots at an adult male during a verbal altercation. That adult male returned fire in self-defense, fatally striking the deceased. The adult male involved in the verbal altercation was not injured.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n 1 \/ 0 \/ 0 By WDTV News Staff “As a result of the altercation Mr. William French was apparently shot and as a result of being shot died from his injuries,” said Pritt.<\/p>\n Chief Deputy Pritt says when deputies arrived on scene 43-year-old William French had been shot by a younger man. Other relatives watching close by.<\/p>\n “There were just two people primarily involved and there were others present.”<\/p>\n Pritt says no arrests have been made or charges filed. This is because of the initial indication of the motive gathered at the scene.<\/p>\n “This may have been an act of self defense on the part of the person who shot Mr. French.”<\/p>\n According to the report, the shooter did have some injuries and no one else was hurt.<\/p>\n “Domestic calls themselves are a fairly frequent thing, but typically they don’t escalate to this point.”<\/p>\n It is unclear at this time what kind of gun was used or where on the body the victim was shot.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
