No charges filed in Rowan County shooting death<\/strong> After investigating a Rowan County shooting death, officials have decided not to pursue charges. Officials say the fatal shot was fired as self-defense.<\/p>\n Statesville Police were called to the Davis Hospital just before midnight on September 13 when two people arrived with gunshot wounds. Both were in serious condition, and were transferred to Baptist Hospital for surgery.<\/p>\n The two gunshot wound victims were residents of Foster Road in Rowan County, 28-year-old Daquon Martin and 26-year-old Ronald Martin.<\/p>\n Around 4 a.m. September 14, Rowan County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to a home in the 5900 block of Foster Road. A body was discovered in the front yard of the residence, identified as 35-year-old Robin Otto Worth Jr. He was found with latex gloves on his hands and a black shirt covering his face.<\/p>\n He died from a single gunshot wound.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n 1 \/ 0 \/ 1 By: Erin Edwards Witnesses said the suspect got in his black truck and continuously slammed into three to four cars. He was stopped by one of the drivers, who was carrying a gun. The man with the gun allegedly hit the suspect in the head with the weapon.<\/p>\n \u201cI thought he shot him, but he had pistol-whipped the fellow and that\u2019s what made the gun go off,\u201d said witness John Simpson.<\/p>\n The York County Sheriff\u2019s Office said the person with the gun will not face charges and is a legal concealed-carry gun owner.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n 0 \/ 1 \/ 0 Madison Co. Man Acquitted In 2018 Fatal Shooting<\/strong><\/p>\n A Combs man was acquitted on murder charges in the fatal shooting of his neighbor last year.<\/p>\n A Madison County Circuit Court jury on Friday (Sept. 13) found Dale Wayne Bryant, 57, not guilty of first or second-degree murder, negligent homicide or manslaughter charges.<\/p>\n Bryant was arrested in August of 2018 for shooting Samuel Scott Hicks, 30, after a fight, according to Sheriff Rick Evans.<\/p>\n Hicks’ family has filed a wrongful death suit, claiming Bryant shot Hicks in the back as he walked away.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n 1 \/ 0 \/ 0 Today’s score stands at two, one and one, Delta Whiskies and Whiskettes.
