In 2011, the Atlantic published a group of photos from the events of Sept. 11, 2001.\u00a0 They need no explanation.\u00a0https:\/\/www.theatlantic.com\/photo\/2011\/09\/911-the-day-of-the-attacks\/100143\/<\/a><\/p>\n National Geographic\u2019s photo story was published in 2018.\u00a0 https:\/\/www.nationalgeographic.com\/news\/2016\/09\/september-11-pictures-remembrance\/<\/a><\/p>\n From Scientific American, the real reason the upper floors of the Twin Towers pancaked straight downward on top of those floors below. The lack of understanding about how much fuel is consumed in one minute by a passenger\/cargo jet engine is rife in the conspiracy theorist world, but they are wrong about that, and about the most obvious part: the jet fuel spilled into the wrecked floors of both towers at the World Trade Center started fires that consumed anything combustible in those floors, and raised the interior temperature to a substantially higher temperature. The spilled fuel went everywhere. The conspiracy people also don\u2019t understand why neither building tipped over sideways, but pancaked from the top down, because the struts in the girders on all the damaged floors snapped, and took both the floors above them and the floors below them down to street level.\u00a0 https:\/\/www.scientificamerican.com\/article\/fahrenheit-2777\/<\/a><\/p>\n The conspiracy theorists forget that the first attempt to bring down the WTC was a 1993 truck bombing in the parking garage in the basement of one of those buildings. https:\/\/archives.fbi.gov\/archives\/news\/stories\/2008\/february\/tradebom_022608<\/a><\/p>\n That did a lot of damage, but did not bring the building down. And the conspiracy theorists also forget that truck bombings are a trademark attack method of destruction in the Middle East.<\/p>\n If any of the events that this destruction followed had been stopped long ago, before the 2001 hijackings ever happened, it\u2019s possible that they might never have happened.<\/p>\n The start of it may have been in Munich, in 1972.\u00a0 That was when Palestinian terrorists called Black September killed off Israeli athletes and coaches at the 1972 Olympics in Munich. https:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/news\/worldnews\/middleeast\/israel\/12028765\/Horrific-new-details-emerge-about-the-1972-Munich-Olympics-massacre.html<\/a><\/p>\n There was the subsequent hijacking of a TWA passenger plane at a Beirut airport by Hezbollah terrorists, for the sole purpose of singling out Americans and killing them, and the Libyan bombing of Pan Am Flight 109 over Lockerbie, Scotland.\u00a0 https:\/\/www.history.com\/news\/remembering-the-1988-lockerbie-bombing<\/a><\/p>\n It\u2019s possible that this could all have been prevented.\u00a0 A Navy diver was beaten severely and shot point blank, and his body dumped on the tarmac at the Beirut airport. \u00a0He and his five \u00a0team members were returning to Little Creek, VA from a repair job in Greece, in 1985.\u00a0 https:\/\/www.navytimes.com\/news\/your-navy\/2015\/03\/28\/divers-to-receive-pow-medal-30-years-after-hijacking\/<\/a><\/u><\/p>\n Stethen was beaten and shot and thrown out of the plane, while the other team members were held captive<\/p>\n And if OPEC had not decided in 1973 to place an embargo on exporting oil to the USA, because the USA supported Israel during the 1967 Arab-Israeli War, things might be a lot different today.\u00a0\u00a0https:\/\/www.thebalance.com\/opec-oil-embargo-causes-and-effects-of-the-crisis-3305806<\/a><\/p>\n As it stands now, Iran\u2019s publicized intention to sell oil to Syria is, in the words of the British Foreign Minister Raab, aimed at disrupting regional security.<\/p>\n Netanyahu (Israel) has voiced the claim that Iran has a \u201csecret\u201d nuclear weapons site, one that was destroyed and another now under construction.\u00a0 https:\/\/www.trtworld.com\/middle-east\/uk-accuses-iran-of-breaking-deal-with-oil-transfer-to-syria-gulf-tensions-28056<\/a><\/p>\n Where do we go from here? Are we going to be muddled in perpetual warfare in the Middle East? I have no answer, but a long slide into constant warfare with no end or purposed in sight is certainly not the answer.
