Metro PCS employee fatally shoots would-be robber in Philadelphia: Police<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nPHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — A store employee shot and killed a would-be robber in Philadelphia on Monday afternoon.<\/p>\n

It happened around 4 p.m. at a Metro PCS store located on the 7000 block of Elmwood Avenue.PCS employee fatally shoots would-be robber in Philadelphia. Police say an armed man in his 30s attempted to rob the store when the MetroPCS employee, who has a permit to carry, shot the suspect.<\/p>\n

Police say the suspect died at the scene.<\/p>\n

“A male entered the store with a firearm and attempted to rob the store to which he discharged his firearm at the robbery suspect several times, striking him,” said Philadelphia Police Captain Scott Drissel.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\nSHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) – A man is recovering after attempting to rob a Shreveport liquor store early Monday morning.<\/p>\n

Police were called just before 12:30 a.m. to The Liquor Store in the 4600 block of Mansfield Road.<\/p>\n

The store\u2019s clerk shot the would-be robber. The robber was taken to a Shreveport hospital for the treatment of a non-life-threatening injury.<\/p>\n

Police interviewed the would be robber at the hospital.<\/p>\n

The clerk was not injured in this incident and was questioned by police.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\nDaniel McGown was uneasy when he went to bed Monday night \u2014 so much so that he slept with a loaded Sig Sauer 9mm handgun under his pillow.<\/p>\n

He would need it in the morning.<\/p>\n

McGown, 73, a retired business litigation attorney, held a burglary suspect at gunpoint inside his Crosby Street home in Akron\u2019s West Hill neighborhood early Tuesday morning until police arrived.<\/p>\n

\u201cI pointed the pistol at him and I said, \u2018If you don\u2019t move, I won\u2019t shoot you.\u2019 And he said, \u2018Don\u2019t shoot me,\u2019\u201d he said about the encounter.<\/p>\n

McGown had returned home Monday following several days visiting family to find that someone had used a shovel on the front porch to pry open the front door at the two-story house, ransacking the place and stealing a shotgun, rifle, three handguns, ammunition, two laptops and other items. He reported the burglary to police.<\/p>\n

But the burglar or burglars had left several items behind such as televisions \u2014 perhaps, he thought, with the intent to return later to get them.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s why McGown, who usually sleeps in a first-floor bedroom, slept upstairs with the Sig Sauer handgun that wasn\u2019t stolen.<\/p>\n

Just after 5 a.m. Tuesday, he heard someone ringing his doorbell. He didn\u2019t answer.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
