Guard, suspect exchange gunfire during armored truck heist in southwest Houston<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nNo one was hurt when a guard and at least one suspect exchanged gunfire during an armored truck robbery attempt Thursday in southwest Houston.<\/p>\n

The chaos erupted around 11:30 a.m. at the DolEx check-cashing store in the 6000 block of South Gessner Road as a Brinks armored truck was making a drop at the business. At least one suspected robber rushed a guard as he was making the money transfer and demanded his money bag, police said.<\/p>\n

It is unclear who shot first, but the guard and at least one suspect got in a shootout in the parking lot, police on scene said. Several cars windows were shot out, although no one on scene was injured.<\/p>\n

A family of four was seen leaving the check-cashing store well after police arrived, having survived the ordeal.<\/p>\n

The suspects fled in a black pickup truck, which was later found ditched on a street about a block away from the store. Houston police robbery detectives and investigators with the FBI are working to determine who the suspects are.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Man Arrested After Robbery Prompts Security Guard to Open Fire at Santa Monica\u2019s Third Street Promenade<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nA knife-wielding man suspected of attacking a security guard and robbing an armored truck in downtown Santa Monica, leading to shots being fired near the Third Street Promenade, was arrested early Friday afternoon, police said.
\nThe man approached a Brinks Armored security guard in the area of Third Street and Arizona Avenue around 11:15 a.m., according to the Santa Monica Police Department.<\/p>\n

He then tried to stab the guard, who responded by shooting at him three times, police said in a news release.<\/p>\n

The assailant, who was not hit by the gunfire, fled the scene and was apprehended around 12:10 p.m.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Stand your ground: Phenix City jewelry store owner fires shots to defend against armed robbers<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nPHENIX CITY, Ala. (WTVM) – The search continues for two suspects who walked into a Phenix City jewelry store in broad daylight and tried to rob it at gunpoint.<\/p>\n

Rusty Gorman, owner of Custom Jewelers pulled out his own gun to fight back and had every right to do so by the \u201cstand your ground\u201d law.<\/p>\n

It was lunchtime Wednesday when two men came through the front door of Custom Jewelers wearing masks and with guns in hand.<\/p>\n

Gorman spotted them right away and decided to take matters into his own hands.<\/p>\n

Video was captured by surveillance cameras inside the store where you see Gorman come upon the robbers, shoot at them, and chase them out of the store.<\/p>\n

The Russell County District Attorney\u2019s Office said if you find yourself in harm\u2019s way, where you\u2019re fearing for your life, then it\u2019s your right to use Alabama\u2019s stand your ground law.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
