(Free Icons Library)

One of the ways that President Trump is being complemented is with the “3D chess grandmaster” label. Readers here are familiar with the three-dimensional chess games that they played on the first Star Trek series.

One place to start explaining the 3D concept is with the Cartesian Coordinate System. You may remember this from school while taking math. You have a plane with an “x-axis” and a “y-axis”. The x-axis runs “west to east”. The y-axis runs “north to south”.

In this example, the x-axis would be the “first dimension”. The y-axis would be the “second dimension”. Both axises “cut” or “cross” each other at 90°. In math terms, they are “perpendicular”.

As one progressed in math, they learned of the z-axis. This axis had a height “above the plane” and depth “below the plane”. It was 90° to both the x-axis and the y-axis. This z-axis, shown in the above graphic, represents the “third dimension”.

Theoretically, a fourth axis that’s simultaneously 90° to the x-axis, y-axis, and z-axis, would be the fourth dimension.

A chessboard is like a “two-dimensional plane”. Most of the pieces could move north, south, east, or west, if not restricted by other pieces or by certain rules. The bishops move diagonally. The King and Queen can move in any direction, but the King could only move one space.

A chess player has to combine these movement abilities, and factor in the opposition moving their pieces, before their next move. All scenarios only require movement on the chessboard… Only on one level. The more experienced the player, the more complex they could make this game.

Likewise, the more the chess playing experience, the better the ability to play several moves ahead before making the next move. A chess master has plenty of “bragging rights”.

Now, take a chest board and create multiple levels. Eight chess boards vertically above each other. Take the movements as described above, then add the ability to move up and down. This adds to the complexity of the game. A “3D Chess Grandmaster” would even have more “bragging rights” than a traditional chess grandmaster.

Hence…

President Trump is playing 3D chess against an opposition that’s barely “keeping their heads above the water” playing 2D chess.

One of the ways that President Trump is being complemented is with the “3D chess grandmaster” … Weekend Open ThreadRead more

[221

post-89633","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-open-thread
["GET
