Marshall\/Army)<\/h5>\n<p>There is identification of more remains from the Korean War, in regard to the 55 sets of remains handed over to the US last year.\u00a0 Hondo will very likely announce it as soon as he gets the information from DPAA.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarytimes.com\/news\/pentagon-congress\/2019\/08\/02\/more-than-two-dozen-missing-korean-war-troops-just-identified-from-returned-remains\/\">https:\/\/www.militarytimes.com\/news\/pentagon-congress\/2019\/08\/02\/more-than-two-dozen-missing-korean-war-troops-just-identified-from-returned-remains\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>From the article: Defense Department officials have identified 25 more missing servicemembers from the cases of remains turned over by North Korean officials last year, a major advance for dozens of families who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarytimes.com\/news\/2018\/08\/01\/why-identifying-the-korean-war-remains-just-brought-home-could-take-years\/\">have waited decades for closure\u00a0<\/a>in the deaths of their loved ones.<\/p>\n<p>The identifications were first announced by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarytimes.com\/news\/pentagon-congress\/2018\/08\/02\/pence-welcomes-return-of-presumed-korean-war-dead\/\">Vice President Mike Pence<\/a>\u00a0on Thursday afternoon and later confirmed by officials at the Defense POW\/MIA Accounting Agency during their annual briefing to families of the Korean War, held in Washington D.C.<\/p>\n<p>On Friday,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarytimes.com\/news\/pentagon-congress\/2019\/07\/31\/pompeo-backtracks-on-afghanistan-withdrawal-by-fall-2020\/\">Secretary of State Mike Pompeo<\/a>\u00a0called the news \u201cA promise kept from the agreement between (North Korean) Chairman Kim (Jong Un) and President Donald Trump \u2026 to return all of our fallen heroes.\u201d \u2013 article<\/p>\n<p>This accounts for 32 of the missing, leaving 17 sets of remains to be ID\u2019d by DPAA.<\/p>\n<p>More than 5,000 troops were declared MIA\/assumed dead at the end of the Korean War.
