Just in case you were wondering, the Democrats didn’t get to have their way in limiting Pres. Trump’s authorizations for sending troops to the Middle East and elsewhere.<\/p>\n

The Senate fell short Friday, in a 50-40 vote, on an amendment to a sweeping Defense bill that would require congressional support before Trump acts. It didn’t reach the 60-vote threshold needed for passage. But lawmakers said the majority showing sent a strong message that Trump cannot continue relying on the nearly two-decade-old war authorizations Congress approved in the aftermath of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks. The House is expected to take up the issue next month. – Article.<\/p>\n

While I agree that new legislation for this purpose is a good idea, and should be an update of what we already have, it’s not a good idea to try to thwart someone who is a master at maneuvering when you aren’t. I have yet to see anyone in the current crop of loud-mouthed, blustering political animals, including those running for The Office who has the simplest grasp of real negotiating and real-world awareness that Trump has.<\/p>\n

But then, he’s a businessman and they are mostly failures at real-world stuff.\u00a0 Really, I think they’d vote against something he proposes that will be beneficial because they didn’t think of it first and can’t claim credit for it.<\/p>\n
