Woman shoots man trying to enter Gresham home through window: police<\/strong> By Luke Wilusz The 20-year-old man was trying to help an acquaintance who was locked out of her home at 8:41 a.m. in the 8900 block of South Lowe, according to Chicago police.<\/p>\n While he was trying to get in through the window, a 34-year-old woman inside the home shot him, police said. The woman, who lives at the home with the man\u2019s friend, called 911 to report the shooting.<\/p>\n The man ran away and later showed up with gunshot wounds to his left shoulder and left knee at Little Company of Mary Hospital in Evergreen Park, police said. He tells us that his wife and mother-in-law were at home at the time of the break-in. The suspect used a folding chair to break the glass patio door.<\/p>\n The homeowner said he heard a banging sound, so he grabbed a gun and took the women into the back of the apartment. While on the phone with 911, the homeowner warned the suspect not to move. De Atley and Josh Cain Multiple people called 911 after hearing gunfire that erupted in the mall\u2019s parking lot at 9:45 p.m., officials from the Riverside Police Department said.<\/p>\n In a written statement, police said that\u2019s around when the suspect \u2014 later identified as 25-year-old Moreno Valley resident Victor Hugo Ochoa \u2014 approached the deputy and his family members.<\/p>\n Police said the suspect \u201cproduced a firearm, then demanded (the family\u2019s) belongings.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThis attempted armed robbery resulted in a deputy-involved shooting,\u201d police said in the statement.<\/p>\n The deputy fired his weapon at least once at the suspect. It\u2019s not clear whether the deputy was armed with his department-issued firearm or another gun at the time of the shooting.<\/p>\n It\u2019s also not clear if the suspect fired his weapon. Neither the deputy nor any of this family members were injured in the incident.<\/p>\n Riverside Police Officer Ryan Railsback said that after the shooting, the suspect fled to a nearby vehicle, then drove away.
