(Military Times)<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>In this scam, samples of U.S. military items were sent to China for manufacturing, along with instructions. Those that made these counterfeit items sent them to Ramin Kohanbash, in the U.S., who turned around and sold these to wholesalers in the U.S. He rolled these items out as the authentic thing, with falsified certifications to back his claims.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">From the Military Times:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The counterfeit gear included 200 specialized parkas designed to counter night vision goggles that would have been used by U.S. Air Force personnel stationed in Afghanistan.<\/p>\n<p>But the Multicam APECS Parkas sold to an unnamed U.S. Air Force base supply center didn&#8217;t actually do that, which could have put troops&#8217; lives at risk.<\/p>\n<p>Those types of parkas use a near-infrared technology woven into the fabric that is designed to make the wearer more difficult for enemy forces to detect with equipment such as night-vision goggles, justice officials said. The counterfeit versions, however, lacked the near-infrared technology, unbeknownst to the wearer.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The above wholesalers turned around and marketed these items to military organizations responsible for procuring these items. One of these items,\u00a0 the infrared resistant parka, was mentioned as being slated for actual use. They wouldn&#8217;t have offered the protection that they were advertised to provide.<\/p>\n<p>Their &#8220;flame resistant hood&#8221; was slated for sale to the military and to law-enforcement agencies. They were advertised as permanently flame resistant.
