Grand Jury: Strip club security guard acted in self-defense in deadly SE Portland shooting<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nPORTLAND, Ore. \u2013 A grand jury found that a security guard who shot and killed a man during an incident at a Southeast Portland strip club earlier this year was acting in self-defense.<\/p>\n

According to police, 42-year-old Eugene Pharr, Jr. and 49-year-old Henry McCollum approached a security guard in the parking lot of the Dream On Saloon at about 2:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 15.<\/p>\n

Court documents state that Pharr and McCollum walked up to the private security guard, identified as Francisco Swafford, while he was in his car in the club\u2019s parking lot on Southeast Stark Street.<\/p>\n

The Multnomah County District Attorney\u2019s Office said that the grand jury previously returned a six-count indictment against McCollum, alleging that he had a gun and \u201cmade Mr. Swafford fear that he would be physically injured.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\nAnguilla, BWI \u2013 An American tourist has been charged with the murder of a hotel employee whom he said attacked him in front of his daughters in their hotel room.<\/p>\n

Gavin \u201cScott\u201d Hapgood, 44, and his family were staying at the Malliouhana Resort on Anguilla in the British West Indies, enjoying a Caribbean vacation when the incident occurred, CNN reported.<\/p>\n

Kelcey Kintner, a spokeswoman for the Hapgood family, released a detailed statement on May 2 that explained exactly what happened, according to the Connecticut Post.<\/p>\n

The Hapgood family, of Darien, Connecticut, said a man claiming to be a maintenance employee showed up at their hotel room on April 13 and said he was there to fix a broken sink.<\/p>\n

The family had not reported the sink broken, nor had they ever seen the employee before, according to their statement.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Kintner said Hapgood was \u201cattacked without warning in his family\u2019s hotel room by a maintenance worker who was armed and demanding money.\u201d<\/p>\n

She said the father acted in self-defense to \u201cprotect the lives of his young daughters and himself,\u201d the Connecticut Post reported.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Good Samaritan fires shot at would-be burglar in Philadelphia<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nPHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — A resident of the Wynnefield Terrace Apartments fired a shot at a man he saw breaking into his neighbor’s apartment early Thursday morning.<\/p>\n

Around 7:15 a.m. in the 4900 block of Parkside Avenue, the resident who has a conceal carry permit confronted the man he saw attempting to burglarize his neighbor’s unit.<\/p>\n

According to Philadelphia Police Department Spokesperson Captain Sekou Kinebrew, the would-be intruder threatened the neighbor.<\/p>\n

“The person whose identity we don’t know went into his waistband, and the citizen who does have a permit to carry produced his firearm and fired in the direction of the would-be burglar,” Kinebrew said.<\/p>\n

Police do not think anyone was injured but are still checking area hospitals since the suspect fled and they don’t know for sure if he was hit.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
